breastfeeding moms!!! please help, what are good things to do or eat to increase milk supply?! this is my first baby, and my plan was to exclusively breastfeed which i am doing, i try pumping to help but i can barley pump 1-2oz at a time 😣
@mrs.letty.luna, I don’t feel like that chart is accurate for breastfed babies. They should never be consuming 8 oz of breast milk in one feeding. The most my daughter ever took as a baby was 5 oz and that was only for a couple months then she gradually reduced back down to 3 oz feedings. I can’t speak for all babies but I’ve always read that breastfed babies don’t need more and more milk like formula fed babies.
That’s a normal amount to pump when your baby is only a week old. What makes you think your supply is low? Just keep feeding baby and you’ll keep making more milk. Don’t let him sleep too long and if he falls asleep too quickly then wake him up.
@ariannaamaciass, um no don’t pump after you feed your baby. Your milk supply is supply and demand and you will
Only produce as much as baby NEEDS. No more no less(unless there’s a problem) you will never pump as much milk as he eats and pumping after feeding him can put you in over supply and make you miserable. Just keep exclusively breastfeeding like you are. If something is wrong you will know because he won’t be gaining weight but losing weight and he will be crying out in hunger no matter what you do. I think your doing fine just don’t pump
Pumping is never an indication of what your producing. Pumps can only reach the milk ducts closes to the nipple. Your baby is the only one who can reach and pull from all milk ducts. You have milk ducts all around and up to your arm pits.
Pumping before your feed baby, Oatmeal, water and fenugreek help produce milk but latching your baby more and more is the best way to produce. Your babies saliva and actions tell your body what they need. The longer you wait to feed baby or pump when your breast feel full the slower you produce. Your body will take it as baby has more than enough so it doesn’t have to produce. The more your breast are emptied(they never are really empty because we produce while we feed) it will tell your body that you need to produce more faster.
Hope this helps some. Anymore questions your welcome to dm. 😊
@ariannaamaciass if you pump after baby you'll produce alot more milk but remember baby might get mad because to much milk will come out fast on him and he will chock or cry so lean back and if anything pump a little bit before and after in between also dont stop latching
I have a friend who swears by oatmeal. I'm not sure why or what kind but maybe its worth looking into? That and lactation cookie recipes.
@mrs.letty.luna, thank you!! so pump after feeding baby? i just try pumping a couple times through out the day whenever i have time too..
@2sweetie oh true it was just a reference I breastfed for 6 months my daughter would drink 2 oz every feeding and 24 oz a day untill 3 months
