So do you think we are born with the fear of what might be in the darkness or do you think we learn to be afraid

Locking your doors We are having a discussion on one of my birth boards from my older kids about locking doors and security alarms. There are many of us (me included) who do not lock our doors at home (I actually don't even have a deadbolt on my house and we don't lock it when we leave either), and others who think that's totally weird. So what do you do? Do you lock your doors? Do you think it's weird that people don't?
What do YOU judge Clearly, no one is a perfect parent nor do we know everything. But what’s something you judge a parent off of or just irks you?
Opinions!! We are putting the house on the market soon and my realtor thinks we need to upgrade to granite. Only problem is, for a kitchen this size, the cheapest quote I got was $3,800. Everyone is telling me not to do it, they don't think there is a good enough ROI. What do you think?
Do Not Post TMI Photos in this group!!! This is a group of ladies that are kind, encouraging, understanding and caring of any problems you may have ttc. You can ask all the questions you want, if this group is capable of answering, we will do so. But this group does not appreciate the TMI photos. We will report them. So if you seriously need to post a picture of your bodily fluids, please do so in another group. We are not trying to be rude we are just trying to keep this group clean and happy.
We took vows....I do not believe in remarried...to death do us apart... forever...no retry.... even if your wife or husband died or divorce. What do you think about this??

I was just thinking of this. I think we learn. I was okay when I was little but for the last like 12 years I can't stand being in the dark. Always feels like there's something there or going to pop up. It's hard to walk down the hall with dark rooms. I think it is something we pick up later.

@gorgeousmay42217 but that doesn't mean i didn't learn to be scared form something and just don't remember it

@jaquelinerachelle well, I don't know about you but I do believe in supernaturals. Whether you want to call them angels and demons or ghosts and poltergeist. Young ones are more innocent and able to "sense" or see that part of the world because they haven't been tainted by anything else. They just see raw and real. I saw things as a kid. Most people don't believe me. But with you, you may have had experiences when you were very young where you saw or heard something in the dark and the fear has just stuck with you.

@gorgeousmay42217 well my parents told me i used to say i saw a man in my curtains, keep in mind my room was on the second floor, and they said i pointed my deceased grandfather im photo albums saying he was the man. 🤷🏼♀️
Mercedes Stoddard·
@jaquelinerachelle were you scared of the man at all? Do you know? If you saw him it is definitely likely you saw other things as well.

It’s acquired behavior based on childhood experiences. My child was never afraid of bugs until she saw her sister freak out over a fly now she’s the exact same way but when she was a year old she was fearless 😂. Typically more bad things happen late at night , robberies etc. The fear of the dark in itself is not knowing what is actually in the dark & that alone makes it terrifying.

@gorgeousmay42217 idk i think he died before i was born. If not then it was when i was an infant
Mercedes Stoddard·
@jaquelinerachelle I don't know whether to say, "spooky", "cool", "weird" etc. I don't think the dark will ever stop being scary though.

@gorgeousmay42217 yeah same here. Even in my house. Lol i always feel like something is watching me in the dark. Its creepy lol
Mercedes Stoddard·
@jaquelinerachelle Exactly! I run from every room to turn on the next light. Bathrooms and basements definitely are the worst for me. It always seems like it's in a mirror where you would look up and see something standing behind you. And basements... well basements are freaky on their own.

@gorgeousmay42217, my basement has a creepy ass door in the corner. And I have to keep my back to it while doing laundry 😖Freaks me out all the time.
My son isn't bothered by dark, he'll happily head into a pitch black room without hesitation. But I remember being scared if the dark as a very small child, but I don't remember why. Possibly a bad dream? I can't imagine how I would've been taught to scare the dark, though. I didn't read or watch anything scary until middle school.

@nomli eesh, my bedroom was in the basement for years growing up, it was the worst thing. Most of my siblings are fine and habe made fun of me basically since they were old enough to talk.
