To those that have followed my other posts. Update!

I had to go back in last night about 24 hours after my initial admission because my contractions never went away which is ok but started to be regular at every 3 minutes for hours. Mind you not it was like midnight and I had to be back at OB at 6am for my second betamethasone shot. So I tried holding out. But they said if they are regular to come back in so away I went. I just wanted to sleep in my own bed lol. They were continuous all night. But have finally slowed. Baby look great on the monitor and now that I am 35 weeks and he has both steroid doses they will not stop my labor. I was kinda irked though at the nurse. She told me my contractions weren’t real and they are Braxton Hicks. Uhhh since when do Braxton Hicks involve your whole belly and back and come at timed intervals. But ok. Anyways. I am still keeping him cooking. My cervix is still posterior and remaining at 1cm. So that’s great news! Little guy just needs to slow his role and stay put at least 2 more weeks.

Did they give you IV fluids bc if you’re dehydrated it can cause Braxton Hicks

Nurses need to explain things when they tell you, "it's not real." I went to the hospital a few weeks ago because I was cramping/contracting real bad. They weren't in intervals, but they hurt to the point I had to breathe through them. Anyway, the midwife came in looked at the monitor (several hours worth) and said it was something I ate. That sometimes when you eat something that doesn't agree with you it can cause the cramping which can cause contractions.

What? I asked my doctor about it and told me he has never heard of such a thing and if it happens again, make sure I tell the hospital he said to call him.

Come to find out, I was having real contractions. Even though untested negative for preterm labor, I was starting to soften and dilate. So when I went to my appt a few days after he had a gut feeling, checked me, and put me on bed rest.

My point being- I'm glad you went in regardless. Sometimes us women know our body better. Doctors/Nurses/Midwives need to listen to us.

Yup. Lots and lots of fluids. Didn’t do anything. So I had gotten meds to stop the contractions as well just because I was right on the line of 35 weeks and it didn’t work either.

@nschlegel, yes I agree! And see o don’t know a whole bunch but I am a nurse now graduated nursing school and just passed my boards. We don’t focus a bunch on OB but it’s like come on lady. Yes I haven’t changed a whole lot but less than 24 hours ago I was closed and now I’m not. I think she was new. I will give her the benefit of the doubt. But I had to readjust my monitors so they would pick up baby better and my contractions. She was close but where she put it the monitor was completely flat showing nothing.

Also this isn’t my first kid so I know what it’s like to give birth and sometimes I think they think I’m that young ftm who has no clue what is going on.
