My husband finished out his active contract and is just in the reserves now, but he was deployed for my entire first pregnancy, her birth, and the 2 months following. It was hard to be alone especially having it been my first time pregnant, but you will get used to it eventually. The first few weeks are always the hardest. Living on base and all that is a case by case thing in my experience, it depends where he's stationed and if there's room. Idk how many weeks along you are, but if he's in BCT or AIT when you have the baby they may give him a small leave period to come home and then he will have to report back.

It’s an adjustment really depends on the person. Living on base depends on the base. Availability for some bases are limited. The base were at has a long waiting list so most choose to live off base. My husband is deployed right now but it’s his first deployment in 10 years. That also depends on the job he qualifies for.
