I demanded a c-section after being 24hrs in labor and 4hrs of pushing. I had no more energy left in me. I did however regretted the decision after the fact. It was pretty painful. I had a pretty easy recovery though.

@pettybetty, thanks so much for tagging me! Yes @mommynmotion, she’s absolutely right. I did tons of research, sought out the best surgeon here in our area, weighed the pros and cons and by month 4 I scheduled my elective c section and just as pettybetty said it was a wonderful experience. If you have any questions let me know and be prepared to have some nasty comments and dirty looks from other moms who are against elective c sections but if you’re truly considering it please don’t let anyone sway your decision without getting ALL the facts and perspectives first. Im in the mindset that ALL types of parenting is welcome and not one is better than the other but just different and we should embrace those differences and support each other’s decisions on how to birth and raise a child as long as it’s done with love.

@jesuslover82 that sounds super scary but not at all always accurate. My entire incision opened after my staples were removed. We took care of it at home with daily cleaning and packing. No machines, no smells. I had 3 csections and a tumor removal (used same incision) and only the tumor removal was hard. Csections were a cake walk for me.

Many women have elective csections. Your birth, your way. That's the way it should be. @inkedsouthernbelle had a scheduled elective section and had a wonderful experience. She is preparing for her second. She would be a great source of information and advice if you need it.

Well seeings as how you are 3 times more likely to die after or during a csection I don’t know who would elect to have a unnecessary c section. I’m terrified to have my medically necessary 4th one because of the risk of blood clots and infection 😱

I will be having my second csection in October. I wouldn’t do it any other way

I requested a c section with my first. I had GD and they planned on inducing me but I was not a good candidate for induction. So I spoke to my OB and he agreed to just opt for a c section instead of being induced and most likely ending up with an emergency c section anyways. I’m glad I did, I had an amazingly easy recovery and I had a c section with my second as well that went amazingly.

@dmgraham06 I had vaginal my first my doc gave me a choice csection or try regular of course my first thought is if I don't have to be cut open I don't want to it was a long 4 days and I just didn't want to keep trying so she said I could do AC-section or I could keep trying so I just did a C-section

Not with my doctor. It has to be absolutely medically necessary. I was in labor for 32 hours and after pushing for over 4 hours I begged for the doctor to cut my son out of me and the doctor wouldn’t. I’ve only heard of an elective c-section if you have had one prior for a necessary reason.

I did after 4 days of Labor my doctor gave me the choice if I wanted to continue or if I wanted to have a C-section and I just asked for a C-section and honestly I was scared of a C-section but my c-section went so smooth and I had such a painless quick recovery but I just got lucky

Yes. You can. However some insurance will not cover it unless its necessary. Its easier to select it the second time. For example I decided to have my second one instead of vbac. Im glad I did, i loved my csections

Yeah but it's elective, will be more expensive (and since it is elective, insurance can fight to not cover the payment) and idk who in their right mind would WANT to get cut open if they don't need to.

Edit to add- it depends on the Dr for if they will even do an elective C-section
