I’m so scared to get the Pap smear done!! Can someone tell me how it works or if it hurts 😭😂

I don’t remember when I did mine , but I know it was between 15-20 weeks pregnant ! It’s definitely uncomfortable ! But like @__m said I’d take a Pap smear over being checked for dilation !! I was just checked last week and almost cried 😂😂

for me it hurts they put that plastic piece in and crank it to open you up wide and scrape you with qtips ouch!! I always get tense and freeze up because it feels weird so they give me a child size device

I’m more scared of delivering a baby out of me than a Pap smear.

Also to answer your original question I think a penis hurts more than a pap.

I had a pap when I went into my first appt I was 6 weeks along only to check for STDs and all the fun stuff. My dr is strongly against doing any kind of cervical checks while pregnant and she hasn’t mentioned anything about another pap and I’m like four weeks ahead of you. Did you not have one done in the beginning of your pregnancy?

@zadiebrooke13, aw that sucks!! It’s nothing major But it’s honestly something you don’t have to have now if you don’t want to. There’s nothing they can do anyways if they found any abnormalities

@zadiebrooke13 When you get it done you're gonna be like "wow that's it?" You'll be great girl!!!!! Sorry just trying to ease your mind. Nothing to worry about.

@phoebesmommy, I agree but I had a shitty mom who wouldn’t take me to do important things like that and I still don’t have license so I’m unable to do it

@zadiebrooke13 It'll be over with before you know it. Just takes a second. Its uncomfortable but doesn't hurt. Just lay there and relax :)

In my experience, I literally didn’t feel it when I had one done. I was so scared the first time but it was a super quick process for me. My first one was when I was pregnant too bc I had turned 21 and never had one before.

I always thought they were suppose to do it at 14 weeks that’s when my dr does mine and other patients.

They told me I had to have a Pap smear at 22 weeks and I’m freaking out

Man. Really??? A Pap smear is so important! Girls should start going when they are sexually active

I had a "pelvic exam" at about 15 weeks I think

@laniejay, I didn’t have my pap until 22 weeks. It depends on how far along you are when you make your first appointment.

Why are you getting one? I'd wait till after baby. Doesn't hurt, just uncomfortable

I was scared too. They just have a tool that keeps you open and then they take a sample with a bigger cotton swab. The only thing I told people was it was an uncomfortable feeling having another woman you really don’t know looking at you down there. Lol. It’s not bad it doesn’t hurt and if you have a decent OB it won’t take long.

You shouldn’t be getting a Pap smear at this point in pregnancy

it's like a penis lol TO ME ANYWAY, it's like this gun thing that opens a little once inside and i've had good and bad experiences. some are gentle, some are douche bags.
