I need help guys! So i’m a part time nanny and my normal hours during the school year are just a couple hours a day after school which works out fine. But now it’s summer time and the schedule is all different. They went on vacation for 2 and a half weeks and had me stay at their house and dog sit which completely threw my daughter off schedule. Now next week, my schedule is:
8:00 be at work
9:15 drop boy off at camp
12:30 pick him up, take him to get lunch, bring him home
4:00 make dinner.
This completely goes against my daughters schedule. She doesn’t even wake up till 8:30 sometimes 9:30. She takes a nap at 12:30. I need to talk to my boss about this but not sure how to go about it or if i’m over reacting about how hard this is going to be. I spent so much time getting my daughter on a schedule that I now have to completely change. When she’s woken up before her body wakes up, she’s a complete disaster. Doesn’t eat well. Cries all day. And if she can’t nap till 1:30-2:00 she will sleep till 4:00 and then won’t go to bed till probably 10. Am I over reacting or should I tell my boss it’s not gonna work out?

Looks like it’s time to change her schedule. I know it might be hard in the beginning but that’s what happens when mothers have to go back to work. I def wouldn’t talk to your boss about this unless your okay with loosing your job, work doesn’t work around your babies schedule I’d be happy my baby could still be with me while I worked.

I feel like you should let your boss know that you aren't available if you aren't available due to scheduling. It's unfair to expect her to pay you and follow your child's schedule. I think you need to out way the pros and cons and make a decision soon so she can find some one else.

@jtaylorg, I totally get that but this is a job not something your volunteering to do, you can’t really tell your boss no I can’t pick up your kid when camp is over and feed him lunch because my daughter naps at lunchtime. Changing your daughters schedule maybe a bit of work for a week or so but it won’t kill either of you. Your being paid to do something like any other job, most people have to wake their kids up early and take them to daycare before they would normally be up, they get used to it. If one of my employees tried to tell me I needed to change my schedule because it didn’t work with their child’s they would get their walking papers right then and there, they pay you because they need someone for those times.

@mimixtmn, @majorreign, I think i’m just gonna let her know my concerns and see what she says. the issue is that this is only gonna be the schedule for 2 weeks then it’ll be something else and then something else. and then something else. If she gave me the schedule when I asked for it months ago this could have been figured out or I could have worked on changing her schedule then instead of now. Also she works from home half the time so I have a problem waking my daughter up and dealing with her not eating because she’s exhausted when she’s gonna be home all day half the time. My boyfriend said i can quit and not work until she’s older so I don’t NEED to keep the job. my daughter is more important to me and making sure she eats and sleeps like she should

Personally I think if it doesn’t work for you and your daughter don’t do it.
