Curious. When you measure ahead... does that mean baby is big, due date is off or baby is coming early?

When they did an ultrasound or measured your stomach? If they measured your stomach and you measured ahead, that's your uterus. That could mean the baby is just stretched out. If they did an ultrasound and your baby is measuring ahead then that means your baby is big. In the beginning of the pregnancy they may change your due date based on if you are measuring ahead. But if you are 32 weeks, they shouldn't change your due date. That just means your baby is big.

Are they going by fundal height?

It doesn’t change your due date. Measurements are an average, it means they are estimating your baby is larger than average. It doesn’t necessarily mean your baby is developed ahead of schedule.

@reanasanders26, they shouldn’t change your due date this late in the game.

@mamabear918, his exact words were ‘baby is measuring at 33.5 weeks” lol

@laniejay, first of all they change my dude date when i was 18 weeks so what you talking about

mariapb

Maria

@maloaug, I measured 2 weeks ahead from 20 weeks onwards when fundal measurements were taken, but on all scans only my boys legs were measuring ahead. He arrived on his due date and is tall and my due date was never changed.

@reanasanders26, lol I guess it doesn’t make a difference now for me. I just need to know whether I need to go ahead and pack or if we have time still. I hate being caught off guard

reanasanders26

@maloaug, how many weeks or you ?

mariapb

Maria

@reanasanders26, I think @laniejay, was referring to the OPs stage of pregnancy not yours.

@they-see-me-trollin, @reanasanders26, I’m going on 33 weeks now. Csection is scheduled for 39 weeks.

mariapb

Maria

@maloaug, yeah I don’t think they’d change your due date now but if you feel better packing your bags etc now then do it, there’s no harm in it and it might give you peace of mind.

reanasanders26

Reana Sanders

@maloaug, yeah i don’t think they would change it if you schedule for an csection

@they-see-me-trollin, yeah you’re right. I’m just a little nervous bc all I’ve ever had are c-sections. So if I actually went into labor earlier than expected I would not know what to do.

reanasanders26

Reana Sanders

@they-see-me-trollin, but i was already 18 weeks when they change my dude date. My doctor measure my stomach and then he was like i seem a little farther along and they change it.

mariapb

Maria

@maloaug, aww you’ll be fine I promise. Do whatever is going to make you feel better but like I said I always measured ahead and went on my due date. It could be babies position, the way your fluid has gathered at that moment.

mariapb

Maria

@reanasanders26, but @laniejay, had no way of knowing that before you said it and you went off on her.

mamabear918

MamaBear918

@maloaug Ok but did the doctor say "baby is measuring at 33.5 weeks" after an ultrasound or after using a tape measure on your stomach. Because they are measuring two different things. But I still say that your due date won't be changed. Babies grow at different rates. So after a certain point in pregnancy, measurements don't give as accurate due dates as early on.

It just means that you’re bigger than average that’s all. If a dr is attempting to change your due date at any point after the first trimester it’s time for a new dr
