18 weeks today!!! Question for you mommies that have 2 kid and breast feed
How did u tell ur oldest u had to breast fed the new baby??? Asking for myself 😂
@proudmommyof237, I know. That doesn’t change the facts though. You’re gonna feed the baby with your breasts. Lol there’s no way around it. Worse case he gets totally grossed out and wants nothing to do with y’all when you’re nursing 😂 I know they make some books about breastfeeding siblings. You could check amazon. But I think blunt and too the point is the best way at that age. It doesn’t leave open ends and it’s all explained in one conversation.
My daughter was 3 when I got pregnant with my second. She kept wanting to buy bottles to feed the baby and I told her we didn’t need them. She asked me why so I said “well, you know how puppies drink from their mommy’s boobies? Human babies do the same” lol she has always called them boobs/boobies because she was breastfed to. Anyway, then she got all excited and was like “YOUR BOOBS MAKE MILK!?” Lol and wanted to know if I fed her that way and if it was weird to me, she asked why we did it that way and I told her that’s how God made our bodies. I explained that all different types of mommies, humans and animals, feed their babies that way.
When her sister got here she was completely fascinated. Lol she always sat with me when I nursed. She was in complete awe that I could make milk from nothing 😂 but she was the same with a baby - “your body can grow a baby???” Lol
And then she started “nursing” all of her baby dolls and stuffed animals ❤️
My oldest didn’t care. She asked what I was doing, I said feeding sissy. That was that.
I'm currently bfing my one year old, and my two year old asks about it, occasionally. I just say "there's milk in there and he's drinking it."
The truth. That’s what I’ve done 3 times now and all my kids understood and don’t question it after that first time.
@proudmommyof237, sorry I just don’t know of other ways other than the facts 🤷🏼♀️
I would just answer whatever questions that come up with interesting facts to help normalize breastfeeding. The milk you produce is specifically made for the new baby and changes with the baby's changing needs (if fed direct from the breast). No other milk or formula is as nutritious as what you will make. It's pretty neat stuff.
Just tell him that’s how the baby’s milk is made and so thats how they eat it
I doubt he will care. He might notice the first time but you just tell him that's what mommies and babies do lol. That it's how baby eats and gets big.
@laniejay I wouldn't lie to him never have just wanna know some different ways to explain it to him
Funny story... My son was in NICU for a long time after birth, so I was having to pump at home and then take milk to the hospital for him. My 2 year old was so fascinated by my pump and what I was doing. She would watch me put together the parts, attach and pump. She would point to things and I would tell her what they were. As I was removing my pump parts etc, I looked over, and she'd grabbed the flange and was holding it to her chest. 😂 I've also been very open on what different body parts are, and once she came over as I was taking apart my pump, poked my nipple and yelled "nipples!!!" excitedly lolol these little kids are sponges and soak up everything you teach them. Make it a positive, informative experience for your son. He'll probably still find a way to embarrass you with whatever you explain to him later, but that's just memories for later!
