Would you ladies say it’s “normal” to already be dilated to a 1 at 35w3d?

I was. You can be slightly dilated for weeks before it actually happens. So yeah I would say it could be normal ☺️

It could. Better question is why are they checking you for dilation?

You can be dilated for weeks I was a 3.5 at 35 weeks and stayed likr that until 37w6d

@kayliajbristow95, thanks! I’ll be 36w tomorrow. I just hope I keep dilating on my own. My dr seemed impressed I went from a fingertip to a 1 in 1 week which is why I was asking. In fact she seemed impressed I was dilated at all yet. Idk. I was just wondering. Lol

@laniejay, normal routine practice for my dr I guess. I just go with the flow.

I was dilated 1 at 28 weeks and didn’t have my LO until 38 weeks.

@hollieletcher01, that’s a dangerous thing to do. You should do your own research and not have blind faith in doctors. Cervical checks are not necessary unless labor is suspected

@laniejay, well sweetie my dr saved my life about 3 years ago when my Fallopian tube ruptured so I have more than “blind” faith in my dr. Trust me, I have done plenty of my own research. Drs have been doing cervical checks for years in the last weeks of pregnancy. I just asked a simple question. I didn’t ask for criticism. Thank you. Have a great day.

I was at 2 and 60% effaced at my 36 week check.. anxious to see if I’ve progressed any when I go on Wednesday

I was dilated to a 3 at 35 weeks

@bartlett425, I’ll be 36w3 when I go back Friday and I’m also anxious to see if I have progressed anymore! I get so excited now that I’m going weekly! I also have my growth scan Friday so I’m also anxious to see approximately how much he weighs! I just can’t wait for him to be here honestly!!

@youngbutwisemomma, wow! If I would have been a 3 I would have fell out! How was your progression through the rest of your pregnancy and did you end up having your baby before you due date?

@hollieletcher01, my son was “sunny side up” so he was able stay in there a little better. I was on bed rest from 33 weeks because I had went into labor but they were able to stop the contractions since they weren’t dilating me. They gave me steroid shots for his lungs so that they’d be more developed and he was expected to come around 35 weeks. He was able to stay in until 37 and then he flipped himself which caused my water to break on its own. I had him within 5 hours of that.

I would say it could be. I was dilated to a 1 at 25 weeks. They had to stop contractions. I was induced at 39w3d.

I’m 36 weeks and 3.5 cm and 50% effaced. I go tomorrow to check if i dilated anymore.

I’m currently 27+4 and dilated to 2... with my youngest son I dilated to 4 at 20 weeks and delivered at 38

@hollieletcher01, at my last scan at 35 weeks she was measuring 7 lb 2 oz.. is scheduled for another growth scan at 38 weeks!
