Maybe I’m in the minority but hearing appreciation for anything, mandatory or not, is nice. I have to take care of my kids, but I still like to hear that I’m doing a good job 🤷🏼‍♀️

I agree, of course it's great to hear praise and recognition for what you do. But you shouldn't expect it or seek it out. You do what you do cuz it's what you're supposed to do and demanding recognition is ridiculous.

@quincysmomma my SO has told me that I do an amazing job with our daughter. I've never asked him if he thinks I'm doing a good job or demanded for him to tell me. I know I do a damn good job and so does he I commend him for it here and there because he deserves it but he doesn't seek it out either.

Ok I interpreted this post wrong. Can you give a more specific example of the type of person you’re talking about? Bc being a parent can be a very thankless job and it can be very hard at times and we all need encouragement

With that logic though, would you not thank a paramedic or nurse or doctor that saves your life, that’s their responsibility too and they’ve chosen that career path. I agree with not completely worshipping a parent just because they’re not a dead beat, but isn’t that what Mother’s Day and Father’s Day is about too? Shouldn’t we show appreciation for the parents who are present?
