Question: My son had a fever, followed by vomiting once and instantly feeling better, no diarrhea. His fever shot up again a few hours later. Fever has been back and forth but he has not vomited since that initial time. Anyone experience something similar with their little ones? Could it be a tummy bug? He hasn't complained of a stomach ache at all. Last time he did he was pointing at his tummy crying and saying it hurt. Could it be food poisoning. I know we are not doctors but it good to have input from other mom's. As always i will follow up with his doctor but not till Monday. 😑😑

@grisi849, he may be dehydrated if he’s complaining of a headache but more than likely it’s just an overall bug making him feel miserable. Try not to worry to much, as long as he is able to take fluids and is peeing/has at least 1 wet diaper in 24 hrs, that is considered ok.

Also, I have heard that it’s very uncommon for newborns to get stomach bugs. I can’t remember my source so I’m not 100% sure how credible. But if baby is nursing, he is getting great antibodies from you as well.
💗🙏 hope your boy feels better soon

@phoebesmommy yes, I'm giving him Tylenol to keep him comfortable. One thing i am noticing though is that he is telling me his head hurts. Not constantly just when the fever goes up.

@ek620 glad to hear he's feeling better. Im not sure if he drank milk from the day prior and that's what cause the vomiting. It's scary since i have my almost 6 week old baby. But I've been washing my hands and sanitizing constantly. It's really hard to keep them in different rooms. But im trying. Also making sure my son doesn't touch the baby.

@grisi849, are you giving him any meds? If you’re doing ibuprofen that’s known for being harsh on the tummy

@phoebesmommy my 2.5 year old. He's been drinking water and gatorade and keeping everything down since his initial vomit which was yesterday at 5ish. His highest was at 103.1 at 12 pm yesterday and any other time it has gone up it has been between 100.9 and 102.

This just happened to my son this week. He was running a fever over 102.5° on Monday & vomited twice that morning. Then no vomiting after that. No diarrhea. His fever was up & down for a couple of days with meds. I took him to the pedi & she said it was likely a stomach bug. I monitored his temp, made sure to keep him hydrated, and offered bland food. Took a few days for the fever to break & he didn’t have much of an appetite, but he’s finally feeling back to normal now.

Oh wait duh the older one sorry. Sounds like a tummy bug. Poor boo. Keep him taking sips of water/pedialyte/Gatorade and stick to a very bland diet of toast bananas rice applesauce broth
