I don’t have a 2 year old but when my daughter cries hella loud in public I just tell her stop or give her her paci and catch her attention with something else

Depends... (Assuming everyone's napped and there's no real reason for them to be upset) Sometimes I have something with me or gave him something, and I threaten to take it away or not let them have it, if they "don't stop fussing". Usually we do some kind of consequence like a time out, right there and then. Sometimes I totally ignore it. Like completely ignore it. I no longer (or at least haven't for a long time) have "tantrums" from my oldest.

As @p., said.... Distraction is always a great idea.

I tell my son that I don’t like what he’s doing and we should be done soon and that life isn’t that bad. Our kids are young. They can’t rationalize their feelings. Most adults throw tantrums at the sight of a child’s tantrum and we’re old enough to know better. Usually I just take a deep breath and try to act like I’m not bothered by it.

@mswedes, yeah I felt bad cause she started screaming dead smack in the check out line cause her dad said no to the ball we have like 6 balls from every store we go too. So it’s to many now. But she starts crying loud and screaming. So I was like it’s 5 dollars one more wouldn’t hurt kinda thing but he’s right I’m going to turn her into a brat now

I ignore it and my son stops because he sees that I'm not paying attention to his bad behavior .

@km416, in that circumstance I would just give a firm "im sorry honey but you cannot have anything this time" and leave it at that. I'd ignore the screaming completely, after that. They're allowed to be disappointed or upset, and they don't know how to handle themselves like an adult does. BUT if things get out of control, then I would apply some kind of consequence. (Like if they would start kicking, throwing things, ect.) once she realizes that "No" means "no" and it doesn't change... She'll stop throwing fits like that.

And at that age, a short but direct response is the best way to go. Give directions as simple as possible. That way she can better understand. Too much information or sweet talk could get confusing when they're so young. Good luck mama! You're trying to raise her right! 👍🏻

And I definitely wouldn't take her to the car.... I'd want her to see that we go on with our plans, regardless of how she acts up. (Again, assuming it's not nap time or something.) and she may begin to act out if she doesn't want to be somewhere, or be doing something, so that you WILL take her to the car. I've done a time out right in Walmart. Yep... Sat right in aisle 6.

It's totally stressful and you feel like all eyes are on you judging... But I promise if you're consistent, IT DOESNT LAST.

is it wrong to be frustrated that my daughter acts like she can't do certain things with out my help. she plays dumb a lot and I wish I could be like no girl show what you know. she acts like she can't trace or match shapes so shes ask for "mommy finger" to help her so I barely hold her hand and she magically can do it but if I dont hold her hand she just scribbles and acts like she doesnt know the pic is how she traces when I'm "helping her" otherwise it'll just be scribbles all over the page

Hi momma's I need some tips or advice my daughter has been acting up alot lately since we moved back to California (it's a long story as to what happened) but she hasn't been listening to either me or her dad but she will listen to other people and she has just done this since we moved back idk if she is doing it more now that she has both of her parents and she thinks she can get away with it or what but I'm asking what should I do? I've tried literally everything. I've told her that it's not ok to hit or bite and not to throw food and I smack her hand lightly and say "no" when she is doing something she isn't supposed to be doing but she still doesn't listen. Feels like she is already in her terrible twos at one years old....
