My DS is almost 3weeks old, he gets almost 21/2 ounces during the day and 3 ounces at night.
My bf and I just got into a argument bc our son seems to be awake at night a lot. Idk why but telling me I’m not feeding him 3 ounces at night which I am.
Is it normal for babies to be awake or wanna be up during the night?
I think it’s mainly when he’s just gassy or has to poop but he doesn’t understand that; he thinks baby should just kinda sleep, wake up for bottle then boom sleep..

Newborns tend to have their nights/days mixed up, and be awake more at night than during the day, too.

Is he getting one 3oz feeding at night? At his age he likely needs multiple feedings through the night. He should be getting 8-12 small feedings per day. It's unusual that a 3wk old would sleep through the night.

Ty! He’s not even like wide awake at night, it’s just when he’s gassy or fussy sometimes. Like last night he had the farts and finally pooped then he slept fine. But he kept ranting about a schedule n then onto other bs I got so mad lol
Feel like he just wanted to start with me over something. But ty ladies @lpheartsyou, @nomli,

Schedule is key !!

@wafflespancakes, no he gets 3oz feedings at night every 4 hrs and his daily is almost 21/2 every 3hrs.
It’s not that he thinks he should just sleep through the night, it’s that baby gets fussy at night.. sometimes and doesn’t go right back to sleep. But I think he doesn’t realize he gets fussy during the day also and doesn’t wanna sleep but that’s ok bc it’s during the day. He’s not seeing it happens at both times, it’s just one is convenient to him and the other is not. That’s y I stay awake at night with baby mostly

@joyfulmom2b oh ok. Sounds perfectly normal to me. Both of my kids liked to be awake at night when they were newbies.
Monica·
@joyfulmom2b, he's just like my fiance! So many times he was surprised about what was normal for a newborn. "I thought it'd be easier" ha. Nope.
Jenny·
@lpheartsyou, yeah at night he isn’t, he does morning till noon, i do afternoon, night till morning. But ur definitely right abt that.
And I’m pretty damn sure ours sons doctor said the same abt the sleep thing also! Uggh I swear he just wanted to upset me, he went from bringing home flowers to ranting bs at me 😫 I don’t need that rn lol
Jenny·
@nomli, yeah like I excepted this honestly.. I prepared for it as much as I could, I really feel like he’s already impatient bc he wants to be able to actually do things with him like riding smh keep telling him that’s gonna be awhile away lol
He’s 3 weeks old lol we got along way

@joyfulmom2b, hahahaha, a very long way! I think that's how it is for a lot of dads...they don't really "bond" until the child is old enough to do things with. While mothers, since they spend so much close, quiet time with the baby, (usually growing the baby as well), have a quicker bond and are less impatient. Plus, if you're like me, you spent many hours reading and researching what to expect, haha.
Jenny·
@nomli, exactly yes! Lol but I think ur right about that. I just wish he asked instead of ranting off on me trying to fight. My bf has a lot of growing up to do also.. hopefully his head will be out his ass by morning lol
