At which appointment did they start doing “internal exams”? Like checking your cervix? With my other 2 kids I know I had them before my 30week appointment. I’m high risk this time and I’m 35weeks and haven’t had one yet.
But my last kid was also 4 years ago and I know they change practices often. 😅

I think the norm is usually around 36 wks. I remember having them a lot sooner then that with my boys but I was high risk. Im 27 wks now and haven't had an internal check yet but they have been measuring my cervix with the ultrasound since mine's short.

30 weeks
Normally after 30 weeks but it really does depend on your doctor
@iwannaplay, I live 2hrs away from my hospital so usually closer to 38/40weeks they check to see how dilated I am so I know to stay in town or not.
An up to date practice doesn’t do them until labor unless there’s a problem there’s no reason to do them at all
I never had one before labor. They’re not really necessary.
My doctor doesn't do them until 37 weeks and it's usually his patient's choice if they want it done or not
@jmariegarbaloff, okay that may be why then! No I’m not really concerned either way, I just was thinking today and I realized I hadn’t had an exam.
I know with my last (also high risk) they waited till my 37 week appointment to avoid complications, infection, and possibly irritating my cervix. But all doctors are different, have you asked them when they start them? Or are you trying to avoid them?
@icebergahead, I thought it was around 30weeks. So that makes sense. But I’m 35weeks now and haven’t had one 🧐
