Question: first time mom here! How long is it best to only rest, heal, take care of self, take care of baby only after giving birth?

6 weeks is the time most need to heal. Does that mean you’ll be laid up in bed for 6 weeks? No. But you will need to take it easy until you are cleared by your doctor.

@a.lares he comes around to see the kids and buys diapers but here's the real crazy part- he is staying at a hotel and he sneaks in to go through my phone and stupid stuff like that but he's saying we are separated and he'll decide on August 17th if he's coming back or not. 😂 like what is ending August 17th

@a.lares honestly, I'm not doing the best job, I've just been doing the best I can to keep her clean and fed. It is very hard and I am in a lot of pain but since my husband left me the day before delivery I have really just been dealt a difficult hand to play. I will just have to keep adjusting routines until I figure out something that works. I don't really wanna give advice because I definitely don't have it figured out lol

@wheelercharle4, how are u managing ur 2 year old? Isn't it hard with an incision. Are u using a wrap for support? Asking for myself going back for c section #2 in September but my son will be 11 months and he's cubby 27 lbs

It really is just up to you and your body. For me I had a c section Monday and I am caring for both my two year old and newborn on my own and doing my housework but it is NOT IDEAL.

There are many factors that determine how long it’ll take to heal. Also, one must determine if they’re focusing on physical, mental, emotional, or overall healing/adjustment to the act of birth and the life change of having a baby to take care of.

Each of us heal differently, and based on the experience we have. Physically, I would suggest not just sitting/laying for too much of the day, as your muscles will greatly appreciate the ability to move, just don’t over extend yourself. Listen to your body and take cues on what it needs (nutrients, fluid, rest, activity).

It depends on the person and also your state of mind with all of your hormones out of whack. For me, I had to focus on just baby for about a month and I felt nothing like myself. I also struggled with postpartum depression. I was an absolute zombie. If there's no huge rush to get back into your routine, then I wouldn't rush it unless it's what your comfortable with. Everyone has a different experience. Just take it one day at a time!

It depends on you, how you give birth, how quickly you heal, and how well you handle pain. Even with a vaginal birth you'll still have a huge wound where the placenta was, and overworking that can lead to issues. A c-section you also have the incision that needs to heal. Most doctors won't give you an all clear to resume normal activity until 5/6 weeks, but around 2/3 weeks is when they say you can start slowly easing back into regular activity. Around 2/3 weeks is when I started driving again, dishes, laundry; I just didn't do any heavy lifting.

I just had my first baby a little more than a month ago. As soon as i got home i started doing laundry and cooking and cleaning which didnt really help with the swelling or pain. It took me about 2 weeks for all the swelling to go down and about 3 to not feel any type of pain. I had a very easy and quick labor and delivery but she did give me a tear. Its all about how comftorble you feel. Take your time.

I’ve never really gotten to rest. My husband always has to go back to work as soon as I’m out of the hospital, so I’m back to cleaning, cooking, and care taking immediately.

It really all depends on you personally, I was grocery shopping the day of me being discharged. I guess I'm use to running around like that anyway (5kids) I really do think it's up to you

Depends if you do a vaginal birth and if there are any tears and if you have a c section

I think it really depends on how your labor goes. I was up and around doing normal household chores just a couple days after my first was born but, with my second I tore and had to have stitches and the dr recommended not resuming normal activities for at least 2 weeks.

I think only while you’re in the hospital. Being the 1st time mom I would suggest trying to set a routine when you get home. It will be a huge adjustment. But can be done quickly. A newborn only sleeps, eats, and shits. You will be tired but not to the point where you will want sleep all the time. I would get a good amount of rest (small naps are great through your the day) but you can still do things like cook and clean organize things. It’s good to get up and move around. It helps your uterus shrink back to size.

I don't care how people take selfies. Do what you want it's not killing me, ruining my day or none of my business. I don't care about The background either. It can be dirty or clean it's not my house. Just take care if your babies.
