My doctor had paperwork to fill out for a company who talks to the insurance and fulfils the order

Yeah, that’s true. Most have a requirement where you need to be a certain amount of months.

My insurance required I be at least 35 weeks, so I just became eligible to order it. They provided me with a list of medical supply companies that my insurance covered, I filled out a short form, and they approved my script from my doctor and did all the work. Only took about 2 days to process and then I can just go to Target to pick it up or depending on the pump I choose, they mail it within a week.

Some insurance require that you wait until your 28 weeks , you call your insurance and ask them what kind of prescription you need, then when you have appt you tell your doctor then call back your insurance they will tell you what you are qualified for and the next steps

@expectinggreatness, yes, it’s legally required now thanks to Obamacare. They have to provide you a pump. The brand just varies depending on your insurance carrier.

Thanks for the info ladies !! I had no idea my insurance would likely cover a Breast pump ... I’m going to look into it with Aeroflow 😅

I also ordered from Aeroflow. They figure out what insurance will cover, and contact your dr for the prescription. I got mine on Tuesday.

I don’t believe your doctor can have your breast pump sent to you. What your doctor may need to do is provide you with a prescription that you may have to provide the medical supply company with. Call your insurance company and ask which providers are in network for breast pumps and they will give you a list of medical supply companies.
