The beautiful story of my painted rock from my 5yr old daughter 😭
I sold my house and we are preparing to move. My children are a little sad because this was our first home and they will miss many things, including friends. I decide we would go in our backyard and pick out rocks to paint and display them in a special rock garden at our new house. I explained to them that sometimes things happen and although it makes us sad, we have to move on and create new memories. I told them the rocks would be memories of our old house and that they would always be with us. I explained to them, that if they felt sad we could go look at the rocks displayed in our rock garden at the new house. I told them it would be like carrying a piece of the old house with us. We painted pictures of things we loved and that reminded us of home. It was a fun filled day and they enjoyed every minute of it.
After we were done, my daughter handed me this painted rock. She said, this is a special rock for you mom. It’s a picture of Grandpa Moron, I know you miss him (he passed away in Sept of 2017). Now you can bring him with us to the new house so you won’t be sad anymore. You can look at my rock and have memories of him. He will always be with you no matter where we go.
At that moment, I realized I was doing an exceptional job raising my children. I taught them the true meaning of love, the importance of family, how to be grateful and to appreciate the small things in life. My heart filled with many emotions, I felt the love she had for me as a mother. She took my words to the heart and it meant something to her. She realized the rocks were special and meant something. We were creating and taking memories with us. I could’ help but hug her tightly, kiss her cute little forehead and say...thank you from the bottom of my heart. Mommy loves you to the moon and back. Of course I cried because I was so touched. I believe that sometimes God knows what you need and gives you special meaning moments like this in life.
