Question wic, food stamps , federal assistants
Worth it in nj because my bf doesn’t want to be in our baby’s life I’m now on my own he just left
1-2-3 go 👉
@sarahtrust16, i personally would yes ! It’s a better chance of being approved without having them down ur neck all the time cause they stay on you about getting a job when on cash assistance so they can stop it .... i do foodstamps online I’ve never been to the welfare office ! Since you didn’t have the baby yet you will only get foodstamps for “one person” which is like 180 a month or something like that I don’t remember but once ur baby is here you call and have them add ur baby to the case and then it will go up
Well I read ur message as 100/week lol 100/month maybe they would do it ... I’m not 100% sure I just know it’s harder to get approved for cash VS food stamps and WIC ...
@sarahtrust16, no you wouldn’t get cash assistance ! Cause I’m their eyes he is providing you with the money so they don’t need to give you $$$ ... you have to literally have no type of income coming in for them too consider you and you have to do a week program of going to the welfare office for like a class or something before you get the cash assistance on ur card....my friend kept getting denied and she finally got approved because she was about to be homeless && has 2 kids plus pregnant . They made her go to the welfare office for a week for a “class” and then she got the cash assistance !
@taegwaltney95, @jessi06182000, @emily526, what if I go and try and get it and just say he’s giving me 100 in cash will I still get the cash assistance?
I'm on wic and food stamps and I get child support my fiance just moved in so I might lose my food stamps but wic helps alot I'm a stay at home mom my fiance the only one that works I couldnt go back to work after maturity leave they wouldn't let me leave early to get my kids and I would have to work late and I cant
Applying for cash will not make you put him on child support .... my friend is receiving cash and her babydad has never been on child support ... they OPEN THE CASE but it’s not filed unless YOU go down and say you want to file for child support ... I know a lot of people getting cash and they do not have the child father on child support .... including my own boyfriend his babymom is on cash and he isn’t on child support ... and she’s been receiving it for about 2 years now
@sarahtrust16, filing for food stamps is worth it it helps a lot! I’m on it right now buuuut they are so strict and it took 2 months just for me too get approved! It takes awhile so I think if you’re going to file you should do it now! && WIC it was useful if you had a baby on formula ! But as far as the check they give you for actual food I didnt find it useful personally because my son didn’t eat ANYTHING they allowed us too buy and he was allergic too regular milk and wouldn’t give him soy ... that was another issue I had with NJ WIC they will make it very difficult to give uu soy formula if ur baby is allergic too the one they normally approve ... I stopped WIC when my son was 1 && I don’t plan on using it for this baby...
@emily526, ok 👌🏽 as far as the guy I don’t want to see him again he threatened me to take my child away and he would leave the state with her I’m trying so hard to keep it together right now and do wht I need but being so emotional it’s so tough
@sarahtrust16 You should be able to get on food stamps ASAP having no income. But they're most likely going to try and get you a job through their agency.
First I would put that man on child support. He doesn’t have to be in the child’s life BUT he made him with you SO he HAS to take care of his responsibility. If you go for welfare, the state with send you and him to family court for child support. If you choose not to go through with it, they will cut off all of your government assistance.
You can get food stamps, Medicaid and wic without having to put the guy on child support. It’s only if you’re receiving cash that it’s mandatory.
I think you should get government assistance at least until you’re financially stable to support yourself and your child. Wic helps, but keep in mind if you choose to strictly formula feed, wic will begin to cut off the formula at 6 months and give you cereal instead.
@emily526, that’s weird well right now I have absolutely no income I’m the stay at home and I’m going nuts eventually I want to work but idk how I’m going to juggle things right now between a new baby and no help
I've used WIC before, it was helpful, but it started to become more of a burden because they were making me go in once a month to review everything and I had to take off from work to go to the appointments. So I ended up dropping it. Food stamps my family is in the process of applying for, but we most recently were told we're not eligible because my husband is a SAHD. Not sure why that is because I know lots of families where the mom stays home and it's ok.
