Does teething cause fevers? I've heard some parents say yes and others say no. My 1 year old is just cracking open another tooth, and has been warm (not hot) and sleepy all day today. While she is awake she has been acting just fine, a little cranky at times and a bit needy. But she plays and runs around with a smile on her face. If it was your own child would you say it's teething or would you be calling the doctor?
I have given her Tylenol for the fever. It's always worse at night. But I was told by the doctor that your body temperature rises in the night. So when she woke in the night I gave her some. And by morning it was back down. Not to normal but better
Teething always causes fevers for my kids. As well as stuffed noses and almost always ear infections. They say they aren’t related but with my kids they def were. Can u give Tylenol? Or Motrin?
I was also told that Motrin is a blood thinner. DS2 can’t take it bc he has nose bleeds. The reaction to medicine is definitely different for each child
Tylenol lasts like 4 hours and Motrin lasts like 6. But I’d beware my son gets extremely constipated with Motrin. Doesnt mean it will happen with ur child but it could
A teething fever is anything below 101. If it gets above 101 it’s probably not teething and more likely a virus. Tylenol is a 4 hour medicine and has acetaminophen in it. It’s for pain and fever, Motrin is an 8 hour medicine and does not have acetaminophen. That part is important because you can rotate Tylenol and Motrin but you can’t use another medicine that has acetaminophen with Tylenol. Motrin usually takes longer to kick in but lasts longer, Tylenol works quicker but doesn’t last as long.
Ok maybe I'm just dumb in this area but what is the difference between Motrin and Tylenol?
Yea teething can cause fever. Mostly in the head area . Also diarea or flu like symptoms . Atleast with my kids it did
My kids sometimes ran fevers... I would give them Tylenol and Motrin rotating the two so that it broke and that they were comfortable. If the fever didn’t break within 24 hours, I made an appt with their doctor. I hope she feels better soon. She’s probably fine especially since she’s running around and playing.
I always know my dd is teething when she randomly wakes up burning up. But i rarely have to treat the fever it breaks on its own after a few hours. But after that inital fever i know that i need to give her motrin The next few nights before bed (teeth tend to move more at night) so she doesnt wake up from pain.
