Who the heck is paying for this?!?!

Who the heck is paying for this?!?!

My sweet hubby was mowing the lawn this evening and hit a rock. This rock was then thrown through the drivers side window of my car! My question here is this..Is this an issue for home owners insurance, (since it happened on our property with the homeowner at fault), my car insurance (since the damage is to my car) or do I just say fack it, buy a window and move on with my life?!? I mean how much can a window cost, right? Less than the $500 deductible (either insurance/same deductible) right? I would think but I've NEVER in my life had to purchase a car window, or a window in general for that matter. It's QUITE possible I am misinformed on the subject of windows as a product. Thoughts?

Linden1 I just wanted to say "Yay!" and celebrate with you! I had an incident similar to this and finding out about the auto glass clause in my insurance was like Christmas and my birthday all in one ? I mean seriously, when was the last time insurance was simple?

Check into your car ins, we had a clause for free glass replacement.

If not, i probably would figure out how to pay oop. Our homeowners ins doubled after a $1200 claim.

I wouldn't file with insurance. Your rate might change. Windows are pretty easy to replace. Just pop the panel off the door and place it into the tracks more or less. My window smashed at a drive through (it was frozen to the top and I tried to roll it down, slipped the track and as it thawed it unstuck and smashed into the car door ) I just got a new one and followed a YouTube video on how to replace it

I had to get my windshield replaced on my Honda Accord. I called autoglass(?) they came to my job and replaced it for $200

Pay for it out of pocket. I had the front windshield on my F250 changed for $225. If your deductible is higher than the cost of replacement, not worth the claim and raising your premiums.

I'd definitely just replace the window. It will be cheaper and your rates won't increase.

It would fall under the comprehensive coverage on your car insurance. Your comp deductible is normally lower than the collision deductible because comp covers things out of your control.

I think a lot of factors will contribute to the cost, like is it the front window, a side one or a back one, the type of car you have and if it has power windows or not. Best bet is get a quote for both (obviously buying a window outright and doing it yourself will be cheaper) but unless you or someone you know has the mechanical knowledge to replace it especially if its a power window you may do more damage to the door frame as well

My actual front windshield was only 100$ so I'm sure a side one would be less! I'd call around and ask tomorrow but call local places not like safelite they were 70$ more than the local place I went.

It's probably be cheaper just to replace it yourself depending on what kind of car/window it is

A window is A lot cheaper than a deductible. Just buy a window and have someone put it in. Do not file it under insurance. A 1/4 window is cheaper than pop a lock. So a full window is around $100 or less.

Or does it even matter? Is it the same difference either way?

Car accident and car seat question

Car accident and car seat question My husband was just rear ended and our daughters car seat was in the car. We need to report that to the insurance, right? Even though she wasn't in it?

Car Wreck!! What a day! I took my husband's car to work which I never do. He drove my car last night so I couldn't find my keys. Then I get to work and we end up leaving late because I had to finish an audit. As I'm driving my husband's car home a guy fails to yield and turns right in front of me with no warning and I had no way to stop. I slammed into the side of him and in my fury I jumped out of the car freaking out and screaming at him and even made the poor kid cry. He didn't have a license but luckily he had insurance.
