Breastfeeding question
My baby is five days old and has been having trouble with eating enough and losing weight. I’ve been seeing a lactation consultant who gave me a syringe to feed my baby formula after he eats until my milk came in but I only used it for formula once and have been pumping after he eats(when he’s done it’s so hard to wake him up and he’s very content and I go a half hour-an hour between feeding on each breast because he won’t wake up to eat) I just fed him on each breast and pumped an ounce and a half and he won’t wake up or take my finger even but will take my finger to syringe feed after I finish pumping. Is there any way to help this because the only way I know he’s getting enough is if I syringe feed him because otherwise he just goes to sleep after 10 minutes
Newborns are sleepy, just do your best. Try fully waking him. Use a wet wipe on his feet, tummy, neck. Or just keep forcing a little into him with the syringe when you can. I had to do that for a while. Totally normal for them to sleep though. Best to discontinue the formula if you haven't yet.
Have you tried to get him naked and feed him? Is he latched good?
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
Short Luteal Phase?
I've just started temping because I believe that the reason I haven't had a BFP yet, after 20 months, is because I believe I may have a Luteal Phase Defect.
My son loves the bottle more than my breast 😫 he gets so fussy when I give him my breast but has no issue with with bottle. As long as his eating I’m okay with it. I’ve been pumping and I hate pumping!!
Make your own breakfast!
At what age do you think a child should be making their own breakfast? I have a 10 year old and I think he is perfectly capable of making himself breakfast. It doesn't take rocket science to put some waffles into the toaster, or microwave some pancakes. My husband insists that he needs to have breakfast made for him because if we left it up to him he wouldn't eat enough and it would take him forever.
Yes I have and he gets a good latch it just takes him a few minutes. And I’ve tried a wash cloth but I’ll try a wet wipe next I don’t think the wash cloth was cold enough to bother him. If not I’ll keep using the syringe I didn’t think you could do that but I guess newborns are very sleepy as long as he’s healthy I’m happy. And I only had to use the formula once last night I started getting some milk this morning. Thank you for the input I was thinking I HAD to just feed out of my breasts for some reason
