Claire yes I am a success story just like these other wonderful ladies. I had the cerclage at 18 weeks and today in 32w2d and going strong. The doctors and nurses cannot believe it's going this well and they are all beside themselves it's working out this well for me. I have my c section (one is still transverse) planned for 27 more days on July 17th!!! Feeling so blessed.

Fx things go in the same direction for you, keep me posted.

MWSolis I did an emerg cerclage last Monday because I lost my whole cervix. Luckily God was on my side and the operation went better than expected and my doc was able to do a great job and really sew it up good and solid. Now the waiting game of holding these munchkins in for a few months.

Ladies I love love love hearing your success stories. I'm 19w1d so I still have a ways to go. Thanks again for all your support.

Glad you got some more optimistic advise.
A few months ago there was a mommy on here who got an infection from putting the cerclage in and if I remember correctly she lost her babies because of it. Not sure if I remember correctly.
Just make sure you stay put in bed and good luck :)

Ok I finally got a few things straightened out. I spoke to the other doc today and he was much more optimistic than the fem doc yesterday. He actually thought I was on hospital bed rest fm yesterday appointment I said no I'm at home and not sure what I should do. So he put me on house arrest lol and I can walk around here a bit but not much, take it super easy. He will see me on Monday and go from there if I need hospitalization. I'm off work until after the twins are born and that has all been worked out. Still don't know what's up about the fluid it wasn't charted yesterday but he said it's common to get a bit of leaking fluid if my cervix is open a bit. We will check into that further Monday. I'm feeling better about having a direction and now that is all done just taking great care of me and the twins. Thank you all for your input, your wonderful.

Oh and Mz the cerclage isn't a good idea still. They claim it can do more harm than good because my cervix is already very irritated. Could be used later as a last ditch effort.

Did u ask them about the cerclage??? I know after 25wks they don't do them and it sounds like u may need to put yourself on bedrest!!! Also, I would have definitely asked where the fluid was coming from!!! I wouldn't have left until all questions have been answered!!! Please take it easy cause I have been there and try not to stress yourself out. Praying for you my fellow twin mommy 2 be?

Thanks ladies. I pray that your right. I'm going back today to talk to her again with a clear head and ask more questions this time. My OB is also a mfm doc and there is only 2 locally here and they both see me depending on who's working that day.
11.03.2014 Нравится Ответить
Are you seeing an mfm? If not I would definitely recommend you see one. Twins are high risk normally and an mfm specialist is just what you need to monitor your situation. How I looked at it was my OB monitored me and my health during pregnancy and my mfm or perinatologist monitored the babies and made sure things were going well. They have better equipment for scanning and deal with high risk pregnancies so have more experience with issues.

I'm sorry your appt didn't go well. I second, a second opinion. I don't understand why they can't do a cercalage? What would happen?

In hope things start looking up for you soon!

I'm so sorry you're having you go through this. Praying your little ones stay put for 7 weeks!

I'm sorry your appointment didn't go well. Don't give up hope. All these beautiful ladies posted their success stories and yours will be another one. Stick to bed rest and lots of fluid. Can you get a second opinion? It's hard to believe that they couldn't get a decent measurement and how can they not know where the fluid comes from?
I hope your bubs will keep baking well beyond 25 weeks!

Well I had another scan today to see how my shortening cervix was doing and I left in tears and all my tears gave me a nose bleed. They can't get a great measurement of my cervix as it's all wonky or twisted or something. So I don't know if it's gotten worse she said it possibly measured 1" and if that's accurate it did get worse. There is fluid leaking near my cervix too but I don't understand where that's coming from. There is nothing they can do for me. She said in a last ditch effort if we need to later we can do a cerclage but if I do it now it may cause things to get worse quickly because of them being twins and the fluid thing. I left upset with no answers and a 50:50 shot of keeping them in until 25 weeks. She said it will be the longest 7 weeks of my life. Just feeling absolutely gutted at this point.

I found out I was having twins at 12 weeks. Went into overnight observation for dehydration at 17 weeks. Everything before then was normal. My cervix length was normal and the twins were great in weight and length but after that hospital stay, my cervix began to shorten. They think I may have went into labor while waiting in the ER to be treated for dehydration. After that, my cervix has shortened pretty drastically and now I am at .74 but no dilation yet. I am currently only 27 weeks but will be 28 weeks tomorrow. I had to get the steroid shots for their lungs and the magnesium sulfate drip for their brain development and to reduce the risk of cerebral palsy if born before 28 weeks. I had that done at 25 weeks because my cervix went to a 1.1 by that point. I have contractions a lot but I don't feel many of them. I have an "irritable" cervix. I am currently on strict bed rest (no doing pretty much anything and that includes sitting up straight) and I'm not on any type of medication for progesterone. So far they seem to be holding tight but I was told even if they were born this early their survival rates are very good. The twins themselves are actually measuring at 30 weeks in weight and height which is great. They are literally only an ounce apart and they have great heartbeats around the 145 range. Honestly, they didn't expect me to make it to 25 weeks and here I am at almost 28 weeks so the cervix shortening doesn't mean you will give birth early. Like they told me, it only increases the chances of preterm labor but does not mean that you will. Some people make it to 38 weeks even with these types of problems.

I had a lot of problems with my pregnancy. My cirvics was almost gone at 24 weeks. I was put on strict bed rest. I lasted I tiles 33 weeks and 3 days.

I also got the steroid shot to help their lungs mature :)

The girls are 5 months old now :)

at week 24 i went in for routine mfm appt and my cervix had gone from 5 to 1.2. I was also slightly open, by doctor was able to get a fingertip in my cervix. I was told to go to the hospital and stayed for 3 days. We got steroid shots just in case and then they did a fetalfibronectin test. This tests if I was likely to go into labor within the next two weeks. If the test is positive, it does not necessarily mean anything but if the test is negative it is a good indicator of good things. My test was negative so they let me go home on strict complete bedrest. No sitting up if possible and only getting up to go to the restroom. My cervix held and by week 32 my mfm allowed me more freedom in my bedrest and we had a scheduled c section at week 37 because my daughter was possibly having IUGR. I have healthy, happy b/g twins who never spent a minute in NICU. Just listen you your doctor, rest, drink lots and lots of water, and you should be ok. Good luck!

I found out I was pregnant with twins at 20wks(one was miss during 7 wk scan) at this time I was told that I was funneling and cervical shortening. I was referred to an MFM, who I saw 2 days later and my situation had WORSEN!!! From that point, I was rush to L & D for an emergency cerclage. I was in the hospital for two days and released due to my body responding soooo well!!! I'm not on any medication but prenatal vitamins and colace for constipation and that's all!!! I will be 27wks tomorrow and have yet to have any problems!!! My cerclage will be taken out in 7 more weeks!!! So don't worry yourself...I was told I would lose my pregnancy and here I am!!!! Bedrest works wonders as well!!!

I had a similar situation. Went in for our 20 week anatomy scan and found out my cervix was 2.5 and then went in two weeks later and it went down to 1.7, but no dilating. Spent the night in the hospital, and switched over to my MFM doctor, who I have been seeing every two weeks since then, and he says all we can do is keep an eye on things and watch out for signs of preterm labor. I am 31 weeks now, and not having any issues. Both boys are healthy and growing well, and I haven't really been having any Braxton hicks at all. I was really scared at first, but once I realized there wasn't really much we could do, and the best thing we could do was just relax and take it easy and not stress, things got a lot easier
