Don’t worry those be the same parents whose kids act like wild animals and I be like omg whose kids are these they have no home training I use to work in a restaurant and I swear the anti spanking parents are the ones whose kids are running around jumping off tables and chairs running in the kitchen running outside the restaurant and their parents are at the table enjoying a meal like nothing is going on or they have the rude ass kid whose doesn’t use their manners

I don't really know if I should be jumping on this bandwagon considering I've been judged like crazy the last couple days but I'll say this... growing up I got spanked when I did something wrong and when I would try to run away from my mom to avoid it, she would pull my hair instead to teach me a lesson and you know what? I grew up with respect for adults and other people and I knew right from wrong. I'm not emotionally deprived or been in jail or done wrong because of being spanked as a child. I'm actually a really nice and respectful person always looking to help other people.

I don't think so, every generation before us was respectful, and they knew to stay in a child's place they knew to respect elders now you can tell the generation that has it been spanked because they think the world owes them something

Spanking is a controversial topic, if you’re posting about it people may very well come at you with their opinions- hopefully done so respectfully, although I know not everybody will. If you don’t want people to comment on it, just don’t post about it.

@olivbee I put an opinion down (respectfully) on topic and the sanctimommies attacked me, called me a cunt, a bitch, a shit mom, a child abuser (which I was abused as a kid so that lit a fire in me) that I'm mentally abusing my kid, etc etc, yeah you can have your opinion, but I will not be disrespected or called names for MY OPINIONS, just because they differ from another's, I was respectful, and in turn got attacked, but as I said they think them ripping me a new ass is going to change how I parent. @snowy_owl9, momma if you were abused as a child, spanking may not be the best option for you. Unfortunately adults who were abused are more likely to take it too far as well with their own kids. Im not saying you abuse them by any means it’s just something to think about. I’m anti spanking because I don’t see how hitting a small child is a good way to handle any situation. My kids are not wild and crazy any more than normal kids their age. I want to have a good relationship with them their entire lives. I was spanked with paddles and I definitely have emotional scaring because of it. Ive always hated being touched, especially by my mom though she was the spanker. I remember hating my mothers touch as a child, I couldn’t ever imagine my kids hating that 😔

I know this doesn’t happen to everyone but it’s just not a chance I’m willing to take. There are so many other options to discipline without hitting and they really do work. Redirection is the best way to help them avoid doing something dangerous. Yes it may take a few times, and that can be frustrating but they get it eventually.

I don’t spank my son .... he gets smacked on his leg sometimes but it’s RARE my voice when he gets in trouble is enough to make him stop or act right ! And I always get soooooooo many compliments how well behaved my son is! I don’t think I could EVER whoop or spank him .... My mom would hit me so much when I was younger to the point she would hit me just when she got frustrated and I did nothing wrong ! And my dad would only come around just too whoop my ass ... and now I grew up not close to my mom && I don’t want that for my kids ... taking things away && yelling has worked for my son ... but everyone learns differently ! I have a friend who she hits her kids all the time , always yells at them and they still act like wild animals 🤷🏽‍♀️ so I think it’s whatever works best for your child like you said no one can tell you how to raise your child !

@modom16 im a little offended at this comment. But I do understand what you are saying. I'd never hurt my child. I was sexually, mentally, and physically abused. I never hit my child out of anger, and she's been spanked a total of 3 times in her life, once for climbing on the sound system, once for trying to touch a hot stove and once for climbing on a really high chair.

Literally just had this conversation earlier. I got spanked as a child, not too often cause I wasn’t wild and dangerous lol.. but I have never been in a physical fight in my life. I am like the least violent person ever. DD get spanked if she’s about to get hurt and doesn’t listen to my warning the first time. You owe no one an explanation as to why or how you parent. Parenting is not a one size fits all. Every mother and every child is different. We’re all doing the best we can and I’ll be damned before I let someone say I’m a bad mom. My daughter and this baby I’m growing are my LIFE. My mom is DDs favorite person ever and she’s gotten spanked by her before as well. DD loves to cuddle and isn’t scared of me, loves my touch. You do what’s best for your kids and leave me to do what’s best for mine 🤷🏻‍♀️ I won’t judge anyone for using other forms of discipline, so if you don’t like how I parent... just mind your own.

My little brother never got whooped but a few times when he was little so now that he is older my parents are paying for it he is 17 and the most disrespectful little brat ever (me and my older two siblings got whooped so much even over small stupid stuff that I personally think my parents shouldn’t of whooped us for and they just took too far for example they whooped us over someone eating the last honey bun 🤦🏻‍♀️) but anyways my little brother is so disrespectful he got the cops called on him and they came to my parents house and disrespected a cop! My brother got in trouble for sending death threats to his ex girlfriend! Yeah so my brother is a great example of what can happen if they spoil your child and don’t whoop them enough!

I am all for spanking kids! Obviously not to the point of hurting them but enough to be like “oh shit I was naughty”. My mom always says how happy she was she spanked me and my sister because we grew up knowing how to respect our elders. I am a millennial but I sure as hell don’t think like one (the stereotypical ones, not all millennials are bad). My son will grow up and know how to treat a lady like the freaking princess she is and how to never hit a women or talk down to elders.

That's not what that Bible verse means.

The rod was a shepard's staff used to guide the sheep gently back into the flock. Also, the Bible doesn't say "punishes" it says disciplines. There's a reason that particular word was used instead of the other. There are many ways to discipline and guide children in a manner that doesn't include physical punishment. I'm all for following biblical teachings, but not when the words are misunderstood or twisted into something it was never meant to be.
