@lulu85_18 yes I completely agree. I firmly believe that my daughter is on the spectrum. She's probably mildly autistic (probably Aspergers but since the DSM-5 changed Aspergersis no longer a recognized diagnosis) But It's not like I don't recognize the signs since I have quite a few family members on the spectrum but I'm always told that I need to wait until she's older.
It's just frustrating because I know the sooner you start with therapies and interventions the better the over all long term outcome.

@tristansmama2015, I’ve also learned that most doctors and specialists are afraid to diagnose before age 5. They’re afraid of being wrong. My son was 5 when he was diagnosed.

@tristansmama2015, my son had five other autism assessments before he was diagnosed. Try taking him to a psychologist knowledgeable in developmental pediatrics.

@tristansmama2015, hmm did he know it was the string for the balloon? I know mauriz has meltdowns over like some different textures and things like that

@lulu85_18, yes he has and they told me he didn't have it. He has never acted like that with a balloon now he is saying his skin itches imma give him a bath tonight and rub him down in some lotion for itchiness

@tristansmama2015, he may have a sensory issue, which still falls under the spectrum. ABA can help with that. This is what my son struggled with and he slowly became desensitized with a little help.
