Question, I don't know if everyone realizes but Pitocin increases labor pains/contractions a whole lot...who has went…

@caligirlatheart yeah I've heard the distress issue before.

I got it and it tore me up! Made my baby go into distress and I almost had to get a C-section. I am going naturally this time and I hired a doula to help me through labor.

@tiasbanks1985, me either! Maybe because the other options are “quicker” by causing you to contract

@lilinnocence718 I did they foley bulb to! Oddly I haven't seen many other moms who have, I'm wondring why it not more popular to get things started.

With my first I was induced with a foley bulb/balloons and regrettably got an epidural (I barely pressed the button since I got no relief from my contractions and was also feeling has pains with every contraction). My contractions were minutes apart and unbearable!

With my second my water broke first and contraction were 15 min apart, I was first induced with foley bulbs/balloons and then put on a pitocin since my contractions weren’t picking up. I was forced to get an epidural (claiming it was required in order to tolac/vbac, I didn’t press the button and the “constant drip” didn’t relieve anything I also had major back pain from where they did the epidural) my contractions were manageable and I would breathe through them with ease. I think it would have been worse if I was contracting back to back like I did with my first.

Both labors ended in c sections due to failure of progression (stalled at 5/6cm with first and 4.5cm with the second)

Great question. Also, do they HAVE to introduce pitocin if it’s not necessary? I’ve been hearing and reading a lot of things about hospitals/doctors wanting to rush you through the process instead of letting it happen naturally.

I did pitocin and an epidural with my first. I was good for the first couple of hours until they broke my water. At 7 cm it hit me like a freight train and I got the epidural. It only worked on the contractions though so I felt everything in my vagina plus the stitches after.

I did. When I was induced with my daughter they gave me cervidal? The night before. The next morning I started pitocin. They had it low at like a 4. I requested them to stop it so I could walk around. About 3 hours later they started it again. Brought it up to like 8. Then they broke my water. I had her like 2 hours later. It was my 1st time going natural no epidural. I was pretty sure I was going to die but I act like that with all my labors. I just know i went from 4 cm to 10 in literally 5 mins. I was begging to be checked again because I could feel her coming out and they gave me attitude until they checked me then told me it was time to push. I didn’t mind being induced.

I was induced today with cervidal to start my labor and than they were going to give me pitocin if I needed . I didn’t need the pitocin the cervidal was enough for me . My water broke on me . I did get an epidural which was the rt decision for me I was exhausted I needed so rest I pushed for an 1 hr and 30 min I don’t think I would have been able to push without the epidural I was able to get a little rest

I had pitocin with both babies. No pain meds with either. With #1, I only got the epidural after 50 hrs of labor when they told me I needed a cesarean. #2 was 38 hours of labor. I used the nitrous gas to get through my contractions.

I was induced with the pills that are inserted first to try and get my cervix to open and then once they stopped working I was put on pitocin, that got me dilating again but it also brought on contractions that were very random and they didn't have a pattern at all which was very painful and I couldn't focus my breathing. Then I ended up needing the epidural because I just couldn't deal anymore. I stopped dilating again at 9.5 and my sons head ended up crooked and couldn't move down the birth canal properly so I needed a csection

I got pitocin at 5 cm because my water had broken but I wasn’t contracting. At 8cm I decided to get the epidural and the like 45 mins later I was ready to push. I honestly think I could have gone without the epidural because it just irritated me not being able to feel anything

Ive decided if i get induced i will be getting an epidural even though im so for having a natural birth and really pray i can but ive heard being induced does make it so much worse.. 😢

I went quite a while on pitocin before getting the epidural and I really wanted to go all natural but after a couple hours it wore off and I felt everything again. It was really hard but I’m really glad the epidural wore off 🤷🏼‍♀️ the contractions were just really intense

With my daughter I had the pitocin and that was the most excruciating pain I had ever been in....I had two doses of the epidural JUST for contractions, by the time I had to push they had to turn my epidural off because it was no longer numbing me, but instead I was losing circulation in my legs.....so I kinda went natural with the actual birth but really wish I didn't have to, I ended up with 3rd degree tears caused by forceps....So this time around I'm hoping I can just go natural without being induced because I was traumatize by my last birth lol

My first I was induced with pitocin and didn't get any kind of pain meds. It was horrible and his head got stuck they were having trouble getting him out I ripped completely. The doc went to stitch me up and the nurse was arguing with him that they needed to give me something for the pain before he started. He said no she's fine and didn't it without anything. I was so traumatized by that experience I was terrified when I was in labor with my second. My other pregnancies I was never induced and didn't have anything with those either.

I can't remember if my first was induced with Pitocin or not; I was 2.5 dilated in active labor. but I didn't get an epidural, I remember that.

Now my second was definitely induced with Pitocin and it was horrific. I got all the way to 7 and got an epidural.
