Have you seen a dr yet? In my experience my kids have had like 7-10 at least bowel movements a day when they were newborns. I’d def take him in.

If he is breastfed, breastfed babies cannot be constipated. If he is formula fed, I would try switching to a DF, SF formula and seeing if that helps baby. For discomfort, you can bicycle the legs, give gripe water, and massage tummy in an S shape. Laying them on their tummy and bouncing them on your legs can also help with gas discomfort. Also consider the things you are eating. I don't have any food intolerances, but my daughter CMPI, so I cannot eat any dairy while nursing her or she gets horribly backed up and gassy.

@northwoodsmomma, I was breastfeeding I JUST switched to giving him just formula. Maybe the switch in diet will make his belly feel better.

@liz41395, the switch to formula could definitely be causing the minor tummy upset. I would recommend giving him a gentler formulation of whatever brand you are currently giving, along with bicycling his legs and tummy massages.

You can try putting some light Caro syrup in the bottle. I forget how much but it usually worked with my son. If it doesn't then your pediatrician will probably put them on a stool softener.
