Any ladies with a short cervix make it to full term? Currently at L&D cause baby tried coming out last night.. they were able to stop contractions and I’m 2cm dilated
@jenn13, that’s good! The mag is great for baby too. It helps with lung development and to protect the brain from bleeds. I labored too quickly for the steroids, but was able to get 16 hours of mag (oh my God is that terrible!) and my son had no brain bleeds. Every day in is equal to a week of development on the outside so count every day as a victory and battle one at a time. Good news is with the mag and steroids, 28 weekers do well. Prayers you keep baby in for a lot longer though!
@laniejay, they have been monitoring me since 2am and have given me steroids for baby and magnesium to help stop the contractions.. thankfully they have subsided and I haven’t progressed .. I have to wait until 4am for a second dose of steroids & then they will then be doing another ultrasound and check to make sure I haven’t changed..
@jenn13, I’d get some new opinions while you’re in there. I’m sure they have an MFM for you right now?
@laniejay, yeah i wish I would’ve got a second opinion.. but here I am now just hoping baby boy stays in as long as possible
@jenn13, that was a pretty shitty call since you went into labor before then
@laniejay, no I had told my obgyn at our first prenatal visit and she said that because my daughter made it to 37 weeks I didn’t need to get shots to prevent preterm labor ..
A short cervix is not the same as dilating. You can have a short one without dilating. Are you a candidate for a pessary? They should have had you on something with your history- were you on Makena or anything?
@baby04ever, thanks hun ! No I did have an issue with my previous pregnancy my daughter was almost born at 32 weeks but not because of a short cervix.. after 4 days they were able to stop the contractions and keep me at 3cm and she was born 4 weeks later at 37 weeks and she’s healthy.. the dr said I might get a progesterone cream to apply vaginally but he doesn’t see me getting to 37 weeks this time around
I’m sorry you’re going through this! Did you have a shortened cervix with previous pregnancies?
I had an emergency cerclage placed in at 17 weeks with my last pregnancy because i was doubled over in pain and knew something was wrong. I almost ended up losing her because they almost let me go home without checking my cervix. She’s two now. I did have this condition with my first pregnancy so it came out of nowhere with the second. With my current pregnancy I had a cerclage placed in at 13 weeks and my cervix started to soften but it’s still nice and closed.
2cms is ok as long as they keep baby from coming. Are they going to perform a cerclage to keep babyb in until term or use medicine? Hugs!
@laniejay, thanks love I really appreciate it ❤️❤️
