@newlyironman, I believe they don’t consider that until 42 weeks- but not sure. I was actually trying to find the March of dimes explanation of terms because I like it better, but I couldn’t for some reason.
My friend as well is diabetic and she will be having her son early.
Not all women can go full team or make it by their due date. Some will have their babies early then another’s. Some will have their babies on due date they been giving, and there’s another’s go past their due date. It’s all depends on the women body and baby.
@maximusmommy, medical necessity is a completely different thing. This is in regards to women trying to have their babies at 37 & 38 weeks because “they’re done”. This is about pregnant women not realizing 40 weeks means 40 weeks.
All three of my kids were born 36-37 weeks ivr never gone "full term" all though my Dr considers anythibg after 38 weeks full term. But all drs are different.
@boymomx3, the definitions are NOT different. The doctor is outdated and going against the research of his/her peers.
@angelfoodcake, I have a 41+ baby, a 23+1 and a 37+6. Your baby coming on their own early is not what this is about. This is about selfish moms trying to find ways to make their babies come before they’re ready simply because mom is over it.
@laniejay I understand that, but honestly how many of these women are successful in their trying? Complaining, and trying and it actually working is too different things. But yes I understand and information appreciated. My doc says 37/38 is term, 39-40 is full term 41-42 is late term. Seems like there are some different standards.

They All came naturally besides mt oldest i had to be induced because of high bp my other two came on their own perfectly healthy even with GD and hypertension

I've had two early term babies 36+6 / 37+3, number 3 will be early term as well scheduled for 38. I'm diabetic.

@maximusmommy I agree, mine at 37+3 I was just gestational at the time, but I was in active labor and dilated 2.5 - baby was in distress.

Understandable.
I had high blood pressure when I was pregnant with my son Maximus 1year ago and I past my due date. I was 40weeks and 6days when I had him.

These are the terms set forth by the ACOG. These are the universal standards.
