I needed a referral from our family Dr. To see a pediatrician both times that we needed to. I'm not from Edmonton, but I am in Alberta. Try calling around to different offices and just ask if you need one or not.
Dr Kumar in St. Albert doesn’t require a referral. I’m not a HUGE fan of him but he does the job :)
@avianlouiebos, Has he been seeing the same family doctor since he was a newborn? And no, I don’t think you will need a referral. Just call around & see who is accepting new patients. Ask any friends or family members for recommendations. You may need to wait a few weeks or so for an appt.
@incognit0 yes hes had vaccines and i told you I saw a doc today
He sees a family doc she said it in the comments
I never did. When I changed the 2 older boy's doc cuz theirs moved and the one their at now was closer to my home at time but anyways just explained the other one moved and that one was closer to come. I got them in about 10 day's from calling... They been at same doc since and all 3 boy's go their.
@avianlouiebos, honestly a month is kind of a drop in the bucket to get established somewhere
Tell your family doc you would like a referral then
@phoebesmommy yea it says hes a specialist and u need a referral and theres a very long wait time like over a month
@avianlouiebos, so you’re in Edmonton is that a province pls forgive me for not knowing 😬
@avianlouiebos, do you need help looking? I would go to a pediatrician for sure! I just commented on your other post but it’s VERY important you have your LO see someone up to date w information and recent studies for babies
@phoebesmommy idk i just saw a family doctor so maybe a baby doc is better and i can't seem to find any if i google them
No. Are you considering seeking a second opinion?
I needed a referral too and I'm in B.C. it took over a month to get an appointment as well
