🌎🌍🌏

Who here is aware of the severe problems in the world associated with plastic? I have recently begun a plastic free/ zero waste lifestyle (I have been on this path for years but have recently become much more extreme about it) and it is MINDBLOWING to see just how much stuff is plastic/ comes in plastic/ etc.

‼️The world is honestly f***ed if we don't all start to make MAJOR changes. ‼️

Some easy things to do starting TODAY are:

♻️refuse plastic bags at the store. Bring your own or ask for paper.

♻️do not put your produce in the clear plastic bags- bring reusable ones or just let them sit in your cart. They’ve already come a long way and some more time out of plastic bags won’t change anything.

♻️as for NO STRAW at restaurants

♻️carry around a set of reusable utensils to avoid using plastic forks/ spoons while out and about.

♻️be aware of what you buy— do you really need it? Is there a non plastic alternative (cups, plastic toothbrushes, makeup, face washes, bar soap instead of plastic, cleaning supplies, cooking utensils, individually wrapped items in plastic, the list goes on)- you can even make your own to reduce waste & save money!

♻️at the grocery store (if you do not have access to a farmers market) NEVER buy produce that is single wrapped in plastic! This is crazy anyway. Choose the produce that is out in the open and put it in your own bag or no bag. For stuff like pineapple or watermelon, don’t buy the kind in plastic!

♻️for the love of god STOP drinking bottled water or soda/ drinks in plastic. Get a reusable bottle!

♻️do not get single use coffee cups, bring your own

♻️if you use a Keurig and those god awful k-cups, STOP, please!

♻️children’s toys- buy wood, second hand, or other materials that aren’t plastic! That is not good for our kids to be chewing on and touching plastic so much anyway.

♻️buy milk and eggs in cardboard containers, buy glass or aluminum Tupperware, etc.

♻️next time you need any cleaning supplies like a brush or broom, get one made of natural materials that are compostable!

🌏🌍🌎It is OUR job to make sure our kids and future generations have a safe environment to grow up in. 🌏🌍🌎

☣️Microplastics are getting into drinking water and wreak havoc on our bodies. ☣️

Our planet REALLY can’t handle plastic pollution at the rate it’s going. Our oceans are being killed by this because PLASTIC NEVER!!!!! Goes away! It just gets smaller and smaller and is destroying our ecosystems as we speak. Let me know if you have any questions about this and PLEASE try to do your part! If you have any other good tips feel free to share!

@pettybetty, I believe you!! I had a similar experience. Tampons are full of chemicals 😭 and irritate our bodies terribly! I’m happy it helped you!

@segaciouslady no one ever believes me But I had long, heavy, painful periods.... changed to a cup and now I have a light 3 day period with little to no cramping. I use mama cloth for 3rd day bc typically it is so light it could be considered spotting. My doctor says it's 100% attributed to ditching pads and tampons.

@mariapb, yeah I’ve noticed that most places in Europe are way ahead of the US in terms of taking care of our environment.

We also don’t get plastic straws at restaurants anymore, they’re all paper.

In the UK we have to pay if we want to buy a plastic bag at a store. All the money goes to charity but it encourages people to use bags 4 life

@alexistol, nothing in this post is an opinion so not sure what you’re referring to here.

It’s not about being perfect but just making small differences when and how you can. Even if you only do one thing it’s still better than doing nothing :)

Cloth diapers leave a MUCH smaller amount of waste over all. Almost everything reusable is better than single use.

Also!! Use a silicone menstrual cup or reusable pads. Pads & tampons are really bad for you & the planet as well.

@ella_j_heart true..but if I'm lucky, my kids have learned a thing or two from me. I have diapers that my mother used on me... my hope is that I've made a positive impression on my kids and they can use these as well.... or I can educate another mother along the way and pass them along. Still keeping waste down. I'm not a plastic hater like others, but I do believe in cutting down on our waste products. 🤷‍♀️

The average is right at 6000 diapers from birth to potty training..3 babies in that picture are in cloth diapers.. 3 babies, 3 years .... that's 18,000 diapers not in our landfills rotting and polluting our earth.

@ella_j_heart but I didn't say everything in this picture was my contribution to our environment. My contribution is not dumping thousands upon thousands of disposable diapers and wipes into our landfills.....

If you could have any procedures done, what would they be?

I'd just get laser for my stretch marks. I'm covered in them
After I have baby#3 and am done breastfeeding I plan on having a breast lift and tummy
