Does anybody elses 1 and a half year old hit and punch themselves when they dont get their way?

I’m realizing not to engage if I do when he’s throwing one it tends to get worse. If it’s never ending I try to disengage him from where he was nonprofits he stops if not continue to enroll

My brother used to do that. Or punch me in the nose and give me a bloody nose. He was like 2 or 3 when he started and he grew out of hitting himself but he still hit me for a while. To the point I was scared and let him win at games. We had a messed up childhood though so I believe that’s where he got it from

@mom4m omg my oldest used to do that hed hold his breath while crying and almost pass out used to scare me!

@boymomx3 when she first started i was like seriously do we have to do the head banging? cant you just hold your breath til you pass out like a normal child cuz i could really use a break from all your yelling.

@db413 her doc has seen her meltdowns in his office he pretty much told me to ignore them for now because if her age. She used to bang her head on walls and floors but after a couple weeks of just ignoring it she seemed to have slowed down

@mom4m that's exactly what my sons did. They don't do it anymore thankfully.

@boymomx3 my daughter does that too. She hits herself, bangs her head on walls and floors she kinda slowed down on the walls and floors tho cuz i think she figured out it kinda hurts

My nephew did this and ended up being diagnosed with a sensory disorder. Maybe it’s worth asking his dr about?

No but my son slammed his head on the ground when he didn't get his way.

My neice did that she would hit her head and turn completely red

My little girl does this everytime she gets upset.. Its horrible. Not to mention now she tells me no and will screams bloody murder for close to an hour to try and get what she wants

Yup and he pulls his hair. Just started screaming like deep from his throat and turning red. I just sit there and look at him like u most definitely ain’t getting ur way now lol. I tell him not to do it but hopefully he gets out of that soon.
