This is probably going to sound like a stupid question, but how does one find out exactly what they’re allergic to? For the past 6 years, I wake up with my sinuses all congested. It’s disgusting to say the least. Pretty sick of it, and realizing this can’t be normal. It must be something I have developed a sensitivity to. But certain things like wheat, that’s in everything, are hard to pinpoint. Is there testing that can be done by a doctor to find out everything I’m sensitive to, or do individual tests need to be done for each potential allergen? I know I can just take allergy medication, but I’d rather get straight to the source. Is it possible to not be allergies and I’ve just had a sinus infection for YEARS?
Thanks in advance. It’s just so unpleasant, especially when I’m pregnant!
I know my nose used to run all the time when I was pregnant and it was just non stop... but I know my doctors prefer the prick test because it’s easier...
@mediocreleah, it wasn’t too bad. I was good to go after a few days. 😋
@bcsweetie, Absolutely. There really is so many possibilities the older the house.
Ah, $100 isn’t too bad really. Still a lot. I expected something way more expensive though lol. I suppose I’ll just start with an allergen test and go from there. If I’m lucky, I’ll have my answers right there and it won’t be the beginning of some long journey & many doctor visits.
@bcsweetie, That’s so interesting! Thanks for sharing your experience. I’m not so sure my insurance will cover a naturopath doctor. I wish it would. There’s a lot it doesn’t cover. 😒 That’s really cool to know though. Hopefully I don’t get any trace reactions because I am way too easily confused and I just want a straight answer. 😂
Pregnancy is DEFINITELY making it worse. Although I’ve had this issue before I ever got pregnant so it has to be something. Be it dust, food, deviated septum... I just want to get to the bottom of it!
@cams, Really! Is that an invasive operation? I’m glad you got it all sorted. A runny nose can be so irritating. I hope I can find some relief as well. I feel gross all the time haha. I will definitely mention the things you said, in case it’s not allergies.
@malbhurtado, Thanks for the idea! It’s actually not even a runny nose... it’s all in the back of my throat. So disgusting!!! 🤢 Although I do sometimes need to blow my nose in the morning as well. It started about 6 years ago, before I had kids. But it definitely has gotten worse, especially if I get a head cold.
@mediocreleah, my nose used to run a lot and I was always stuffed up. I have allergies as well. My ENT fixed my septum and removed some sinus tissue that had overgrown and was causing the excess drippy nose. My nose is great now!
@cams, I haven’t! That sounds frightening haha. Perhaps if an allergist finds nothing wrong that will have to be my next step.
Have you seen a ENT? You could have a deviated septum and or polyps.
@snoopaloop011, Thank you! I read they also do blood tests? Do they usually do the pricks instead? lol
Yeah if you go to a doctor they will do what they call a prick/poke test and they will do skin pokes with small needles about 10-15 times on your back and if they get a positive on something the move to your arm to double test.. good luck momma!!
@mediocreleah, I hope you feel better!
@amouryaya09, Will do! I usually do mop but I think dusting is what I gotta do. I’ll see about a humidifier. :)
@mommamia18, Yeah most likely! But the OB can at least refer me to someone I think. :) My current doctor is over an hour away unfortunately lol
I think only you’re doctor or a specialist can do it nothing about the ob being able to do it
@mediocreleah, okay I would try to dust and mop as much as possible. If you can get a humidifier that will help moisten the air so you’re less congested when you wake up.
@_ejx2, Sweet. I’ll ask my OB if they can get a test set up for me, and if not they’ll know who I can ask about it. I see them the 27th!
@amouryaya09, NO carpets, believe it or not! Well there’s a rug in my son’s room, but that’s it.
You just have to ask your doctor for an allergy test. You’ll get the results back right away and it tell you everything that you’re allergic to.
@mediocreleah, I’m the same way! Do you have carpet in your home?
@mediocreleah, that could help. I’m the same way. My room gets really stuffy especially with the ceiling fan. I wipe and vacuum everyday! It’s a lot of work but I can breathe better. Lol
@amouryaya09, I have noticed though I still am congested throughout the day. Morning is just a thousand times worse.
@amouryaya09, Maybe! It has been ever since I moved out of my mum’s and I don’t dust nearly as much as she did. 😅
@mommamia18, Man that sucks! I think it’s something I’ll still be able to sneak once in a while also. I don’t have any outbreaks or anything during the day, just this congestion as a result. I have a sneaking suspicion that it may be diary. 😭
Is it food or your surroundings? If you wake up congested it could be dust mites. You might have to wipe everything down around you.
@mediocreleah, I’m not sure I’ll look it up but my regular doctor tested me and I. Got the results back right away and I was mad asf cause I’m allergic to peanuts and I love snickers my throat wont close but I get the mean hives. So I sneak one occasionally 😅
@mommamia18, Okay, so it really is that simple! I moved the past year and only have an OB at the moment and not a family physician. Can an OB do that for me? 🤔
TWW!!
2dpo and on the tww journey. Anyone on the same dpo or close? Haven't decided if I will test at 12dpo or just wait and see if she shows up!!
Transgender children
So I just learned that in my kids school district (my kids aren't in school yet my oldest will be starting kindergarten next September) there are twin boys who identify as girls. They are 5 years old. What's your opinions on this matter given they are 5!!! I don't believe that at that age they really understand the whole thing. So the entire school had to take a course on how to handle transgender children. For example they can't say girls go this or boys do that. What are...
the amount of women who are clueless about their own anatomy is so sad and shocking. a lot of the women are older than me and have more children then I do 😳
now I understand that everyone has their own opinion on the topic and grown adults can do whatever they want with their bodies but to deny facts and make up false statements about your own anatomy when it comes to your unborn child is just so disappointing.
