When did your milk come in? I had a pretty rough c section so I’m guessing that’s what the hold up…

Are you trying to nurse? You should hopefully get it very soon. Keep nursing and skin to skin lots with baby. If you don't get it overnight I would call your doctor to get a check up.

@kambam, everything I read says 3-4 days. He wasn’t born until like 11:15pm. He sees his pedi tomorrow so we will make sure he’s gaining weight still hopefully

Didn't wanna be discouraging but it should have come in by now. But it's certainly not unheard of to be this late either. Some things can cause it to not come in. Retained placenta which I'm certain you don't have, traumatic birth, lost a lot of blood at delivery and got a lot of IV fluid.

Still want to stress how important it is to keep baby at breast as it triggers hormone response. And the other things like skin to skin and smelling your child's head trigger a response.

@kambam, birth was crazy! Hours on pitocin and then a csection that was pretty complicated. I lost a lot of blood almost needed more. And I got ton of iv fluids so much that my feet are still swollen from it

That could definitely be why then. Sorry to hear. I think you should see a lactation specialist too 😊 doctors don't always know about breastfeeding

Do not be discouraged. I had a easy c section and it took almost a whole week for my milk to come in I have also had issues with my milk before not coming in and was wondering if I would be the same this time around. Just keep trying and it should soon come. Try self expression massage and definitely skin to skin. Just also know this even if it doesn’t come just know that you tried. I was able to get milk for my LO, but it has ended. I have also been under a lot of stress too. She was born premie, not too premie, but enough so to where her lungs were not working properly. We also had an issue with the possibility of dwarfism. And lastly she has PRS Pierre Robin Sequence where she has a cleft pallet which brings on added issues. Again just remember patients and consistency.
