@luvmyboogie oh I'm with you girl. My dad was the same way. He absolutely allowed me to switch up my style but like you as well I just had to wait till a certain time frame which I truly don't find unreasonable.

@riasm85, yes I know that we were that age I would even see my older cousin with make up so I ask when I turned 13 my dad didn’t let me either I was told until I turned 15. Now I know that all pre-teens & teenage want to look a certain way because how it is now unfortunately we live a different time but what can we do💁🏻‍♀️

@luvmyboogie everything you said I'm going through the exact same thing!! My 10yr old wants her hair layered this time with colored tips. I won't allow specific colors though. I think a light brown will suffice. I mean I was ten as well so I get the wanting to express yourself deal but my dad still had a hand on what I could do so I'm going to be doing the same for now.

@kambam I wasn't too bad until I hit 18... so all my bad decisions were mine to deal with lol

@melissaredfield87 yeah my daughter wants to try to do her own hair so maybe it will be easier if it's shorter.

@dmomma I think I have just tried to control so much for so long, it is hard to just say ... go ahead. But, she does want to try to do her hair on her own and I am teaching her important hygiene routines.. 5th grade... where did the time go?

@kambam yeah, my worry is I dont let her be her own person and when she's older she rebels in other ways. Seen it too many times.

@fuhgeddaboudit I think these pictures make the cut look older but they're just for length really. Not the style.

It’s just hair I’d let her get it cut. When I was 12 my mom wouldn’t take me to get a hair cut so I cut it myself and it was uneven lol.

@luvmyboogie yeah, the color in my daughter's hair is the wash out kind. Not permanent. It's gone now

I agree with @melissaredfield87, my daughter is 11 yo she has had her hair long when she has gotten her haircuts 💇🏻 it has been up to her shoulders & it is much easier to do her hair. She was just telling me today that she wants to dye the tips of her hair, I told her no she is still to young for that I don’t even dye my hair it took me years for that hair dye to come off when I use too!

Girl I feel your pain my daughter who’s Almost 13 years old cut her long hair to her shoulders I almost cried but it’s much easier for her to fix and I know she’s a Teen now and needs to find her own style😫

She’s beautiful. My almost 5 year old wants her hair cut soo bad especially since i did it awhile back. My husband won’t let her because her hair is long and beautiful but part of me wants to let her because I don’t want her hair to be her security, if that makes sense? My daughter is younger than yours obviously but I’d say let her.. you already let her dye it (which I think looks awesome) so what’s a cut gonna do??

I always say: it's just hair! I thinks it's better they're able to make choices, especially over something so easy like hair. When she's 13 you might wish she just wanted to change her hair 😆
