OT. can you lose your water...

ok ladies, my Dr said that my water didn't break. she did an ultrasound to check fluid levels and everything looked great. she said it could have just been bladder spasms and even tho it was clear and odorless it could have been urine.

And she said my cervix is really soft and I'm a fingertip dilated. and Aleeyah weighs 6lbs 6oz :) I'm glad she's healthy, but I wish she would have made her grand entrance today. lol

My water broke with all 3 children and my last I could have sworn my water broke over and over... it was just liquid discharge.. my body created a bunch if it... doc said he could see it and why I felt like it was waters.. but he tested and it was not.

I was also very dilated at the end so it might have had something to do with it... good luck!!!

Not all women will feel a "pop" when their water breaks. I could tell that I didn't just pee because the water leaking was uncontrollable. Trust your instincts.

I'm a worrier too but I had done a ton of research on natural births and home births long before I was pregnant. I knew in my heart that it was what I wanted to do. Much like many of the cloth diapering mommas, I had very little support. I didn't let anyone else's negativity sway me in my decision though. I had a back up midwife lined up at the hospital in case I needed to transfer. My homebirth midwife had 35 years experience catching babies along with being a pediatric nurse, so I was very comfortable in my decision.

and props to you on the homebirth momma! I've always wanted to try it. but I'm a really big worrier, and the closest hospital is an hour away. I'm just too paranoid something would go wrong. I think I'd be more stressed, and that would definitely be less helpful.

I didn't really feel any sort of pop.. it just came out. if it wasn't my water.. then I guess my pee has turned clear & ordorless.. and that I just peed myself :/

Yes it's possible! My DD kicked me hard 5 times and I seriously looked down at my belly and said "oh you want out of there don't you"? Right after I said that, I felt a "pop" (didn't hurt) followed by some warm fluid. I called the midwife and she said the "pop" feeling was from the pressure change when the bag broke. She said baby's (we didn't find out the sex) little toenail or fingernail probably punctured the bag. She did say not to get too excited and to get some rest because sometimes the bag can reseal itself. In my case it didn't. My labor started about an hour after my water broke. I kept losing water, followed by the mucus plug and bloody show.

We had our beautiful "surprise" baby girl 1 year ago today! We had a homebirth in the water.

thanks ladies! :) nothing has happened as far as contractions go. we are getting ready to go to the Dr. now. we just woke up, got to get ready and then drive for an hour. I wish we had a closer hospital. blah.

anyways, I want her to tell us it was my water and we'll get to meet our princess soon. but I'm trying not to get my hopes up. I don't want her to tell me it was nothing and then start bawling bcuz my hormones get the best of me :/

My water broke without me noticing a mucus plug but I was already in labor when it happened @ 35wks

I never saw any mucus when my water broke I didn't get contractions till 3 days after my water broke you should go get checked

Try and get some sleep if you can! You'll wish you felt rested once labor starts. ;)

Yes, you can not notice the plug. is more coming out? If not lay on your left side for 30 min, get back up and if more fluid comes out you should go to the doctor!

Go lay down for a while, then stand up again. If more trickles out, it's most likely your water. My water broke in bed, but I never saw any mucus plug.

well, I called l&d and she told me to wait and hour and see if it leaked anymore. but it hasn't... so I guess it's nothing..?? I guess I'll just go to sleep and see if I wake up in labor. lol

I already have an appointment at 10:50 in the morning.. so if I don't wake up in labor tonight, I'll tell my doc in the morning :)

I'm afraid that I just want it to be something so bad that I'm convincing myself that is actually something when it's really not.

Yeah. I lost a little mucous before my water broke but not much at all. I actually didn't realize my water broke, I just thought I peed myself. labor started a few hours later. My midwife said that I could keep the baby in for up to two days after my water broke, but that wasn't necessary.

While I was already in the birthing center in full on labor, I lost a disgusting quantity of mucous and had a bloody show, etc.

Ftm here too.. My water broke while taking a stroll in the park. I never saw my mucus plug dislodge, but that doesn't mean it didn't slowly break apart and go down the toilet while I late night peed. As long as you're to the doctor within 12 (if active labor hasn't started) then you'll be fine. I went home and mopped all my floors, showered, got last minute things together, etc. before heading to the hospital (I thought i was just peeing myself as well). Sure enough baby was on her way and I was stuck at the hospital, not in active labor, for hours!! If it were me and I werent having contractions, I'd wait just a little bit - see if the fluid continues to gush (my gushes weren't big gushes at all at first) and then go in.. :) good luck momma!! It's the greatest thing..

Mine was like that. I almost didn't go to the hospital because I was convinced I'd made it up. Turns out my water had broken though :)

it's not still leaking.. so idk. I'm talking dh and trying not to get overly excited in case it's nothing.

I'm kinda freaking out. lol. I'm only 37 weeks.. so I wasn't expecting anything for another couple weeks at least.

I just don't want to drive to the hospital for nothing.. cuz it's an hour away. but better safe than sorry I suppose. lol

before you lose you mucus plug? or maybe just not notice that u lost your plug? I was in the shower and felt like I was peeing myself like 3 times. so I just stood there after I finished showering and got some toilet paper, next time it happened I caught some on the tp and looked at it and sniffed it (super gross I kno) and it didn't have a smell... but I don't think I've lost my mucus plug.. is this possible?

Yes it's possible. If in doubt go to the doctor! :)
