#momlifechats Moms, Welcome to #momlifechats! We’re so excited to welcome Infant & Child Sleep Consultant Hailee Schollaardt (@nurturingsleepsolutions). Hailee has been a Certified Sleep Consultant for 3.5 years. She has 3 kids aged 4.5 years, 2.5 years and 6 months and knows all too well the difficulties of a non-sleeping baby. “My first baby was 11 months old before he slept his first 2 hour stretch (It was a wednesday) and since then I became obsessed with learning about sleep!” Hailee classifies herself as more of a gentle sleep coach and encourages parents to do what works best for their own family. “Always advocate for your family and your baby! After all, you know them best!” She has worked with many families and loves providing tools to help improve sleep for every family she meets. Healthy Sleep equals Happy Families! Hailee’s top 3 sleep tips: 1.) Create a baby cave! The body is cued by light levels and so darkness in the room environment is so important. We want that room to be pitch black if we can. This helps newborns feel at home (in the womb) and it help’s older babies produce sleep hormones. 2.) Use white noise. This is my “must have” in any sleep space. It helps newborns feel at home because it sounds like the womb and it helps older babies to cycle through sleep cycles. Use a constant sound such as static, heavy rainfall or a vacuum. Make sure it does not turn off after a certain interval as we want it to be playing the whole time to help those sleep cycles! 3.) Build strong routines. This is not the same as a schedule. A routine is just the steps you do before putting your baby down to sleep. Each step in that routine triggers the brain to release sleep hormones. Essentially, it acts as your baby’s clock telling the body what time it is… sleep time! Inconsistent sleep routines can lead to inconsistent sleep! Please ask @nurturingsleepsolutions anything by tagging her in the comments below. And a big thanks to @nurturingsleepsolutions for participating in this chat! Babygirl knocked out sleep
shut the door? does anyone shut their child's door while they sleep? (if they sleep in their own room)
Co sleeping...yay or nay? Lately Molly hasn't want to sleep in her crib and sleep with us. Which is fine but we do want her to sleep in her crib

@beccaaalynnn11 we have a "routine" for sleeping down as good as it can be with a two month old. & I unfortunately wasn't blessed with a good supply no matter what I do, so she has to be supplemented 😪

- Yeah.. it’s odd, but “neh” cries are hungry. My son stopped doing that at three months. So babies when they’re in pain, tummy troubles, think they have to nurse. Your supply won’t keep up with her if you keep feeding her the extra bottle. Nurse as long as she needs. My guy likes to nurse a lot. But at some point when he’s being fussy while he’s latched, I slip his pacifier in and rock to sleep. What’s something you’ve started to put her to sleep ? For example I just hold him and move my arms up and down or rock my top half. My sister would stand up and bounce with him, now that’s the only way he’s okay with her holding him 🤦🏻♀️😅 whatever you start now, will stick with her. So don’t go driving in the car unless you want a lot of night drives in your future 😅 And yes! @bitchcraft If you let down too quick, try milking yourself into a napkin or sink a couple squeezes first. ❤️

@beccaaalynnn11 she just has a certain cry when she's hungry and certain cues. like when she's hungry she gets like aggressive with her pacifier. I think she gets impatient with BF sometimes

- Yes ma’am! My first mam cane in a gift target gave me for making a registry 😅 hope maybe that helps. Did you say why you were giving her a bottle ?

- So when my guy was little he hated those pacifiers. Now recently the last two weeks it’s all he’s wanted. We use MAM.. it’s got more of a nipple shape to it.

You can keep her on the breast though. I know how annoying it is to have them on all the time but it's just what they want at that age

@bitchcraft but she didn't want to nurse

@kambam because she's still hungry. I can tell in her cry and I originally tried a pacifier and she didn't want it

Why are you giving a bottle? Have you tried a paci instead

like I just fed her both sides 15 minutes each and now she's about to finish a 3oz bottle 😭 I do produce and enough because when I pump for 15 minutes I make 4oz total
