Well it can easily be $100 more because of excessive heat so it may be nothing or Your unit may need to be serviced. Another thing you can do is call your electric company and they will be able to tell you if the average home in your area also had their bill increase by about $100 due to the heat.

@tayler, not calling you an idiot. Your unit might be burning out and over working itself. I’d call someone to come look at it, maybe your landlord or matnance personnel.

@sparklingjewels It may be. I rent, and have been renting for awhile now. I could call them to check it out, but they don't ever fix anything

An old unit can really really drain electricity super fast. Before my mom replaced hers she was using window units because that was cheaper than using her whole house unit

@sparklingjewels It has been about 99 to 102 degrees which is a lot hotter than usual. I have noticed the AC is damn near constantly running. If I turn it up to 80, it kicks off but turns right back on 30 mins later. I think it could just be super hot, and maybe that's why. But 100 dollars more just seems like a lot

Did they claim to read your meter? I had a meter reader make numbers up because they couldn't get in our fence and got a $350 bill. I got one for over $1000 once. Loved that. Lol

Anything abnormal? Like has it been really hot with your a/c running constantly or has Anyone moved in with you? If nothing has changed call your electric company and have them check your meter it could be broken
