So my father called my husbanbd phone to get ahold of me 10 mins ago and kept hinting it was fathers days so I would wish him a happy fathers day but I wouldnt. So i hurried him off the phone so i didnt have to avoid it for long. He was high and half ass apologized for never calling. I said well "the phone works both ways so I could have called" and I eventually got him to hang up and now I feel kinda bad. I asked my so if it was wrong of me to not be kind to him and he pretty much said yes. I need to know if it was wrong of me not to say happy fathers day or take his apology well. He abused me growing up, kicked me out at 14 and my mom too, he would live well when me and my mom starved and barely made it. He didnt care about me and the only reason he made me see him through court is because he didnt want to pay child support. I'm distraught.

Well, it’s up to you. You shouldn’t feel pressured or forced to say happy Father’s Day if you feel like he was never a good father to you. Why give him the gratification when he was a jerk to say to the least. I’m all for forgiving and forgetting but he sounds like he has no remorse so no, I agree with you. You’re not in the wrong.

You’re not in the wrong. And I don’t mean this in a rude way, but your SO doesn’t know how you felt then when your dad kicked you out and everything. You do whatever makes you happy. I didn’t talk to my dad for several years and then he passed away. I know that I made a decision at the time that felt right. He didn’t want to pay child support then either. You do what you feel in your heart is right. If you want to forgive him, by all means do.. but if you don’t want to, you don’t have to. He made decisions too, and he has to live with them.
