How can I get my daughter to slow down when she's eating? I've obviously tried telling her to slow down, but she thinks it's funny. I've been just giving her small pieces of things, but she's capable of eating on her own. @mommyofakween Just saw the pic of your daughter eating the banana that's why I ask. My daughter is capable of eating it like a human being, but she thinks it's silly to eat it fast.

Give her small amounts at a time and make her wait 30 seconds to a minute before giving her the next small amount. If she then slows down, you can give her a little more as she eats. One of my biggest fears is my children choking.

I would do as @wvmommy suggests. DD would either cram too much in her mouth at once, or she'd throw a lot on the floor for fun. Either way, limiting what was in front of her helped immensely.

I know it seems harsh but if what they suggest doesn't work you can always remove the food that's in front of her if she's not listening and wait until she's done with what she has in her mouth and keep telling her it's too fast and it's not funny at all and then when she's done put a small amount back in front of her and tell her if she eats this slowly like mommy says she can have the rest

I just say don't get all worked up when she does start eating it fast because that is how she is going to keep doing it. She's doing it to get a reaction out of you. If she likes to hold things just give her a banana like I gave to Coraline and let her hold it. It's okay she may just be playing a game with you is on LOL
