When I was a DA I was an NRDA - nationally registered dental assistant. I’m in California and through my school program only paid about $120 for my test.. I was able to do all of the things an EDDA... as well as clean/scale teeth. I could also move around to different states since I was nationally registered.

I know! I knew if I ever moved and wanted to be certified is have to take the test for that state....I just never knew HOW different each state was! I hope your tooth feels better and you get it sorted out 😥 @coralinesmommy

@coralinesmommy oh okay.... Other than bases, liners and temp fillings that's a DAII..... Which here is considered ED. It's crazy how it differs from state to state... Even for hygienists!

@scidg3, ED is expanded duty. I can make temp crowns, pack/remove cord, sealants, prophy, and apply bases, liners, and temporary fillings. In Louisiana we have to get the ED to do these things but don’t need to be certified to be a DA. It’s like $2000 to get ED but my boss paid for it🙌🏻

@coralinesmommy Ohh cool! Like what?!! What's the ED part? I'm a DA II it's not really required to be certified here in NC so I didn't spend the $500 for the test 😂 but CDAII is all you can get up here I think!

Depends on the dentist... Some will pull some won't. The ones that will do it will need your OBs okay. I'm a DA! What do you do? 😄

I was supposed to get mine pulled but I thought I should probably wait til I’m not pregnant lol actually I was going to get a root canal but the pain was so bad that I just decided to get it pulled but of course I chickened out!
