Has Anyone Tried the Midwives Brew to Induce Labor?

Has anybody ever tried the midwives brew? its supposed to make you go into labor i hear within 5 hours‼️not saying i want to try it just interested on who has done it. My best friend did it maybe about 39-40 weeks and went into labor within hours. It has castor oil in it so im too chicken to even think about doing it😂😂😂😂😂

@damnkmar yeah but the point is it's still in there and it doesn't really matter if it's diluted because the components of the castor oil are still there. Just not a good idea lol. With my first son I tried everything except that to induce my labor but nothing worked because he was stubborn and so was my body, ended up being medically induced later. I mean that's always an alternative too if nothing works, just talk to your doctor about being medically induced, it's not exactly the easiest thing to go through but it's a better alternative than castor oil in anything if all else fails

I've never tried it but anything that involves castor oil isn't safe and I wouldn't recommend it. There's plenty of other ways to try and induce labor but they only work if baby and body decides to cooperate

@damnkmar, I actually started at 36+4. I took 1 epo orally everyday. At 37wks I started taking 1-2 orally AND 1-2 vaginally at night before bed. I drunk 1 cup of RRL tea every other night before bed. (I tried to do every night but I don’t like tea) lol. I also walked around my neighborhood every night for about 30 minutes and bounced on my yoga ball everyday. At 38wks I went to my appointment at 3:30pm and was told I was 3cm dilated, soft but still thick! I went home walked briskly for about 40 minutes, and danced to the “baby mamma” song on YouTube for about 20 minutes. That night I took a shower, bounced on my yoga ball for 30 minutes, had an orgasm, then inserted 1 epo vaginally. Less than 10 minutes later I went into labor at 2:30am ! 🤦🏾‍♀️😂 I had my first contraction at 2:30 that was mild, my second one came a bit more intense about 5-6 minutes later. After that they were about 3-4 minutes apart and intense. My water broke in the car around 2:50am. We made it to the hospital at 3am and I had baby girl at 3:51am naturally in doggy style position ! Lol 🤷🏾‍♀️

I don’t think the epo and RRL made me go into labor, but it definitely helped moved things along so quickly.

@damnkmar the old hospital I went to last time had the inflatable ones but the night nurse I had at the time when I wanted to get in one said I couldn't because my water had broke (which isn't true), I'm sure she just didn't feel like setting it up and doing the extra work

@damnkmar yeah I heard it's supposed to strengthen your uterus and help a lot, my doctor informed me that if I managed to go into labor on my own I could do the water labor that I wanted the first time but was denied it. They have tubs built into the labor rooms now at the new hospital that have jets and everything, I could try it but still get an epidural if the water wasn't helping

I looked into it but it has castor oil in it so I wasn’t interested. I did use EPO and RRL and I believed that helped. I went into labor naturally at 38+1 and gave birth in less than 1 hour !

@damnkmar mine wanted to do it at 39 weeks originally but I worked it out a little more in my favor because I really wanted to try for a vbac if possible, he just doesn't want me going past 41 weeks

Midwives brew is popular now because it only has a little castor oil and people think it'll be safe.

DO NOT USE CASTOR OIL !!! It can KILL your baby! It’s NOT worth it. Nothing is going to induce labor besides getting induced in the HOSPITAL by a DOCTOR. The baby is gonna come when they are ready ! And your only 35 weeks you have till 40 weeks to be even thinking about inducing.

@damnkmar it causes intestinal upset that can result in the baby pooping in the womb, it's really scary and not at all worth it when all you have to do to get the baby to come is wait a few days/weeks or see about induction. I went overdue with both of mine and had a medical induction with one but I'd do it over again if it meant keeping them safe. The risk is too much:(

@damnkmar yeah I've been looking into trying that myself this time, I just need to find it. My doctor has a repeat csection set up for me 3 days after my due date and I'm trying to avoid it lol

Sorry just read your friend did it, not you. This shit is a sensitive subject for a lot of people, a girl that was in our bb forums lost her baby this way.

Any castor oil diluted or not is dangerous to the baby. You still have five weeks to go right? You shouldn't be trying any self induction methods, this early on all of them are unsafe.

@ladyblauvelt.skysmomma, i agree i believe it has 2 tablespoons of castor oil in it but the horror stories ive heard has me beyond scared so i dont have the balls to do it, i looked online and some people say like everything in the drink dilutes the castor oil so its not as bad
