@m_joelle, I’m sorry I don’t remember what she suggested, I was so paranoid about taking things while breastfeeding that I think I just stuck it out until it was over. Hope you are feeling better soon!

@marycristina thank you! Besides diarrhea I have chills and some aches. Last night I woke up in the middle of the night completely drenched. No fever though hence why I suspect food poisoning. I appreciate all of your guidance! I guess I'll just let it pass it's course without meds.

@m_joelle no worries there is no such thing as tmi gor mw being a nurse and mom to so many kids lol....anyway Imodium, Immodium A-D, and Maalox Antiarrheal are the recommended otc medications for us breastfeeding mommas, however I know it sucks but if you suspect food poisoning or even virus it needs to come out so don't over do it with the medications if possible and stay very hydrated try mixing equal parts water/Gatorade or Pedialyte. I hope you feel better very soon!

@marycristina diarrhea. TMI but I'm going on 48 hours of diarrhea now - I suspect food poisoning.

I was told no. I was super sick one night while breastfeeding and almost took Pepto but everything I read said no, and I also called a nurse line and she said they don’t have enough research on its effects. She suggested not taking it, so I did not.

I mean i know what it's for I'm a nurse I'm asking what your particular symptom is

Is it for diarrhea or nausea vomiting?
