Pineapple
I sent my fiancé to get me a smoothie w/pineapple in it and I've been reading conflicting info about pineapple not being safe during pregnancy. I'm 5 weeks 1 day and just want to drink it SO badly. Any experiences?

The Ovia app has a food safety section where you can look up what is safe/risky. Pineapple is listed as safe with the following description:
Vitamin C helps boost your immune system to protect you and baby from disease, assists in the absorption of iron to make new blood cells, and contributes to the formation of collagen, which helps build baby's bones and skin.
Enjoy your smoothie!

I've heard same thing too... it usually induces contractions due to bromine present in it... but I've seen people have it and had fulll term pregnancy!

Yeah, eating fresh pineapple can supposedly help bring on labor. But you have to eat like 8 fresh whole pineapples in one setting for it to do anything. I tried that when I was 41.5 weeks. It didn't work. I only got up to 2.5 before I started getting a sore mouth!

Thanks for the info. I think I'll enjoy my smoothie ?

I see.. with my first that was one of my main cravings for fruit. That and any of the sour fruit like raspberries or green grapes. And I had no issues. Don't think I ate it every day or anything but when I had pineapple I'd eat a large amount at one time..

Because it can soften cervix and cause contractions, supposedly. I've read a lot of posts about it being ok occasionally though.
