Breastfeeding mommies I need some advice so I have my five day old he’s nursing about every three hours half n hour on each boob but I’m seeing he sleeping more is that normal I’m worried I’m not nursing often or he’s not taking in enough diapers r about five or six peed n pooping about 2-3 times a day please no bashing just need to know if I should wake him up more often
There’s a great group on Facebook for breastfeeding mamas if you have FB. It’s called Milky Mamas, inc. I love it
As long as his diaper output is good waking him every 2-3 hrs is fine until he is at birth weight then you don’t need to wake him during the night anymore.
I would call in just to check. Every baby is different! We had to wake ours every 2 hrs to feed at first, but she had also been hospitalized her first week and was born with low blood sugar (and didn’t gain her weight back- lost a lot at first). 3 sounds fine to me for an otherwise healthy baby, but always check. Newborns do sleep a lot :) enjoy it while it lasts!!! Note- you probably have a 1 week check up soon? Ask when you go. You’ll probably slowly get the okay to increase the times between feedings if not demanded sooner by baby. :)
I would say wake him up both mine had jaundice. And the more they eat the better. Plus if your worried about his levels try to feed him early morning under an window with the sun out. I did that 15 minutes a day both my kids got better in a week. Or two
My daughter is just like that and dr told me it’s okay to wake her cause she did get kinda jaundice and since they’re small right now so she can get used to it and now she’s progressing a little waking up more often too eat during the day
@mamachey, yeah I saw him today n definitely asked him what was best since he is little he said he thinks it’s fine but like u said it can go up n dwn n I would hate to not do something about it now but definitely thnk u for ur feedback
Im not sure how long the bili takes to drop but my child had rebound it went up then it went back down.
I would talk to your dr for sure tbh
Possibly waking at the 2 hr mark in the day and 3 at night just to get a couple feeds in.
If it wasnt for the jaundice i would def say let them sleep. Mine just eat and sleep constantly the first mth or two
@modom16, yeah exactly that what if n I would hate to feel like formula is best which I don’t have anything against it but I really just wanted to finally accomplish breastfeeding but thnk u hun
@moniquerivera70, 11 isn’t concerning, but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t get higher. Not trying to scare you or anything like that, I just think this early on it’s best to wake them ❤️ my daughter was a tiny little thing and I felt like I needed to wake her so she would get the best chance at gaining. Sounds like your doing good momma! I know how stressful these little babies can be on us just do what feels right ☺️
@girlmom., thnk u I was just reading that I just get so worried
@mommajules, I was thinking of waiting on him to wake up but I’m worried lol since he’s only 4 pds drs said he’s fine but still like I don’t want him losing to much weight or him going jaundice
*breastfeeding didn’t work out for me but I did tons of research*
I also feed on demand..
He’s Peeing and pooping enough- same amount as how many days old they are(till they are a week old)
On Wednesday they were 11 which I took him today again I get results latest Tuesday but I just read maybe no more then 3 hours at day and four at night but I’m also pumping n I give him the most I can lol
Oh yess. They are super sleepy for that first week or two. He will likely perk up around 2 weeks and want the boob constantly, that's also normal.
I personally fed on demand. I never woke them up for feedings. Our bodies are amazing! I would say let baby sleep and enjoy these moments, he’s really young. Soon, he won’t be sleeping as much. Congrats momma❤️
I’m not positive but I think that sounds okay. He could be going through a growth spurt, by tomorrow he will probably be on the breast all day lol. I personally don’t let newborns go more than 3 hours during the day without eating and 4 hours at night.
Also how are his bilirubin levels?
Controversial topic ahead:
How do u ladies feel about masks on kids all day at school while playing sports etc? I’m not an anti masker in general but I am sort of anti mask for small children in school 5-7 hours a day. What are we teaching our children right now? That physical touch is dangerous? Don’t hug/high five cause u could get sick and die? What’s happening to this world right now? Thoughts. I hope this doesn’t make some think different of me but I needed to see others thoughts. Open for...

I need to chat with someone about my partners perving on other girls and talking about random women who we see in public I can’t deal with it aswell as him searching one specific female work colleague on Facebook I’m getting really irritated by his behaviour I’m finding it ridiculously pathetic to the point I’m not wanting to speak to him. He’s literally staring and head turning and then talks to me about them even on the school run one of my sons friends mums he pervs on every day he’s even sta...
When my daughter was a newborn I fed her whenever she woke up. While I was at the hospital they’d wake her up (by rubbing on the bottoms on her feet with their finger and for a long while she hated her feet being touched at all) and force me to feed her. In my experience baby will wake up when hungry. And the first week of my daughter being home she slept all day except for the feedings and all night except two feedings.
