To get her to open wider, try touching your nipple to her nose, and making her search for it. She'll reflexively open wider to try to get it. Squeeze your boob down and put it in her mouth and you should be good.
If you're still having trouble, you can talk to your pediatrician to have them help, or speak to a lactation consultant. There are lots of videos on YouTube as well.
@haslberry, thank you sm. I’m trying to hang in there it’s only been a week but from the severe engorgement to crazy cluster feeding to the current nipple trauma I’m trying to see the light in it all
It sucked for me for about 6 weeks but then it got easier and I breastfed my son til 16 months but in the beginning it took everything for me to not give up but I’m so glad I didn’t!
In my experience, the beginning was pretty tough. Once we got our rhythm, the pain subsided, and my supply started to regulate, it was great! No making or washing bottles, and I always had an excuse to relax with the baby.
Breastfeeding has the potential to be rewarding for the both of you, but it does take a bit to get there. Good luck, Momma.
