I need some help! First time Mom to almost a four-month-old on Sunday. I need some help with sleep training I'm not really sure how to do it. What books do you recommend? So this is her schedule. She used to go to bed at 7 p.m. and wake up between 3 and 5 for a feeding sleep until 7 wake up eat go back to sleep at 9 sleep till 11. Eat play go on a walk eat more down for a nap at one 1:30 till three. Go back to sleep at 7 p.m. . Now she's been going to bed around 5 at night sleeping till 12 for feeding going back to sleep till 3:30 waking up for a feeding waking back up at 5:30 for another feeding waking back up at 7:30 for another feeding taking a nap at 9 till 11 taking another nap at1-3. And then going to sleep at 5 p.m. . She gets so tired around 4:30 I cannot keep her awake. Sorry if this doesn't make sense I've been voice texting because I'm holding her. Please help me out thank you in advance I hope you guys have a wonderful day!

@cray, You’re welcome!

& @alishap1212, What I did was buy the book on my phone and read it during feedings and when my son was napping on me. I read a couple pages here and there when I had a minute free. It was well worth it! We got to the point where I could just lay my son down sleepy and he’ll fall asleep on his own.

I was going through this with my baby. He will be 6 months on the 16th. But at 4 months he started switching up his nap schedule and bedtime. Honestly just following him and his tiredness helped a lot. Trying to keep him awake was the worst thing. One it never really worked and if it did he was over tired and not sleeping good at night at all. Just let them sleep when they are tired. They need it. If bedtime gets pushed alil later bc of the naps it's ok. Better chance of them sleeping through the night at least 😊

@hardknockmama yes I do all those things. Keeping her up till 6 some days is so hard then she just get really fussy. And she cries for hours.

You don’t sleep train a child that young. Even experts who agree with sleep training say do not do it before 6 months. There is a huge developmental leap at 4 months. If you don’t have it already- download the wonder weeks app. It is so helpful. Go with her flow. Learn her tired cues and try to help her adjust. Lots of cuddles, babywearing is a life saver.

@cray keep her occupied, take her somewhere that there is a lot too look at, take her to visit family for a bit, play with her, give her fresh air. Those are the ways I kept my son awake when he was little

Keep her up till 6. Don't let her nap too late in the afternoon. And cutting down lights in the evening before you lay her down helps them understand the difference between day and night . 🙆🏾 same with the morning cut on lights on make sure the sun is shining somewhere. 🙆🏾 and don't let her sleep in too late In the morning 😌

I read the book “Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child”

It helped me a ton! I started reading it when my son was a newborn because he hardly napped 😩 There’s SO much useful info in there.

Btw skipping naps at that age will make them overrr tired which will make it harder for them to actually fall asleep & it’s not good for them either. They need their sleep!

Babies go through growth spurts that effect their sleep. I'd try to skip the 9-11 nap and then she'll sleep longer in the afternoon which will make her stay awake longer at night before she's ready to go to bed again. That way you may be able to get her back into that schedule

Changed sleeping patterns

Ro used to have a very specific sleep schedule. He would wake up, eat, get a diaper change, and then easily go back down for a nap. And then I would have to wake him up 2 hours later to eat and get changed again and this would be the pattern all day.

babybump_user My little one was fussy and not napping today so I wrapped her up in one of
chedges1215 He's currently fed (3.5 oz of mix formula and breast milk) he's been changed, and was rocked
babybump_user My baby is like this as well. I'd guess it's a growth spurt or something. I try

To all the mommys out there! When did your baby stop waking up for night feedings and did you have to sleep train them to do so or did they just eventually stop waking up to eat! My son eats more at night than during the day and this mommy is TIRED!
