@april I feel ya! we need all the income we can get. Have you tried working temp? It is one of the only things saving us and I have an old friend that is being a real blessing. But either way I would just apply. I am not too sure how they would do it with you working on a 1099. I have heard they will if you receive a W2 AND a 1099. The worst thing they can do is tell you no and leave you in a situation your already figuring out. Good luck to you and sending good vibes your way to get back on your feet.

Your welcome. And your state should have an unemployment website. Go on that website and they will be able to more accurately answer your questions and you can apply online rather than waiting forever in person or over the phone.

I'm going through something similar. I have a text from my boss that I was fired because he owes ME $800. Tried to say he didn't. So he fired me. I worked on a 1099. So I wasn't sure if I could get unemployment. I was hoping I would have a job by now that's why I haven't filed but I think I'm going to because we can't afford me not to have income.

Oh and they knew it was. So what they did was wait for me to slip up. I went in and asked my boss how the raise system they have works and what they evaluate. We went off into having a personal conversation and i told her i def wanted to work towards that raise. Two days later I'm sitting in a meeting with her and her boss. Their excuse for termination was "based on the companies values and beliefs we dont want anyone working here that is going to be more concerned with the pay than the job". Thats a sad thought up excuse. Hoping it will all work out for me next week with UE. And no maam it wont matter if you worked there for 90 days or not. I was only at this last company for 5 days. A lay off is a layoff. Hell you can be fired in some cases and still get it.

I'm sorry your going through that. My company was having financial trouble so I kinda understand. Your company firing you fir being pregnant is illegal and disgusting.

Yes maam. The worst they can do is say no and you can appeal like i may end up having to do. which if the company had no reason to fire you then you would win. And the thing is even it takes a little bit of time they will have to back pay it. They go from the day that the case was opened. I opened my case on the 12th. They have 4 weeks to come to a decision and once they approve me they will have to pay me a lump sum from the weeks starting when my case opened. We are getting behind on things but at the least we can play catch up that lump sum. So just try. And if you get it and you get a temp job that comes through they will supplement to make sure you make the approved amount of money.

If I am not mistaken there is no real "amount of time". Its all a matter of that employer either saying yes they will pay or having the documentation to say you were "fired" and then it goes from there. And given they said laid off in this message and you signed no paper work; keep that for proof. 4 weeks ago I left a job to get a new one and its like as soon as they noticed I was pregnant they let me go. Mind you I was there for a WEEK. Its been a rough few weeks trying to keep pushing for any and every temp job that comes along. I just found out today that the reason UE is taking long is because they lied and said I was fired. Problem with that is they have no paperwork or anything I signed. So they can delay it but they wont win this one. Your best bet is to file anyway and get the process started.

How long do you have to be employed to get unemployment? I'm praying something at the temp agency will pan put for in between. I'll do anything to keep things running smoothly between my son's dad and I.

Ugh I feel you. Right around Christmas I went almost a month between losing my job and starting my new one. It was so stressful and I'm still working my way up from it, but it does get better. ❤

Its a towing company. There have been a lot of issues recently. Ive already been hired at another company but it doesn't start until MARCH 27TH! I just finished taking not one but two uas. One for my new job and one for the temp agency.

Im so nervous about rent and paying my sons dad for gas for our parenting exchanges because I don't have a car. They've been stringing us along for over a week, cutting ours left and right. By the grace of God, I had the good sense to start looking for something else but its a three week gap! Five if you count the two weeks it will take for me to get a check.

Luckily this new job is at a healthy company with more pay, benefits and steady hrs.

I am so sorry that happened to you. i have had unlucky luck more than a few times in getting laid off.

But for one..why on Earth did they send this to you in what looks like a text message. if you were not at work to be verbally laid off, they should have called you. Make sure you save that text though if you are going to be filing for unemployment. Also ask them to send you paperwork stating the layoff. Id call any temp agencies you can to help get you something in the mean time. When one door closes another one opens so keep your head up.
