Wouldn't less military support make us more vulnerable? Yes there are more attacks on the US. That's what's concerning to me. IMO Other socialist nations without strong military support are of no concern to them. America on the other hand...
One more thing, socialism will leave us open to attack and unable to protect ourselves against the threat of Isis and any other threats. Imo
I don't feel my fears are unfounded but I will look more into it.
Maybe your right ladies. Maybe I have a misguided view of socialism. Wouldn't thus take away from what we can provide for national security? I don't think we should continue to expand military but I concerned about taking from it. Perhaps I need to do more research.
@jplante It's not even "I'm happy to pay higher taxes because it helps others" for Me, it's a bonus, but it's not even the main contributing factor. It's "I'm happy to pay higher taxes because it saves me money in the long run." Seriously, the American healthcare system is so broken, I don't know how anyone could even begin to defend it. Your healthcare costs are exponentially more expensive for literally NO REASON other than profit.
military
police
firefighters
voting
Medicare
Medicaid
Social Security
healthcare (via emergency room, for people who can't pay)
public libraries
public schools
government college grants, scholarships, and loans
roads (except toll roads)
the FDA
the EPA
All of these are socialist services. We already have aspects of a socialist nation. And Algeria is entirely different from the US. Our history and system of government is entirely different
I will never understand why people would fear socialism. Especially not the US, since t already has socialist policies. And socialism doesn't even lead to communism. That's... Not the same thing. At all. And clearly, most people don't know how universal healthcare actually works. Because I DO get to choose my healthcare. In fact, I have way more options since I don't directly pay out of pocket. How in flying hell would you lose your choices if I was under universal healthcare?
But the government would dictate everything we do. We would loose our right to choose our health care, housing, medical care etc.
I guess I should say I can't socialism in our country that is built on a messed up brand of capitalism.
I want true capitalism where we don't have monopolies, where we have a choice of what to buy, not just fifty shades of Tyson or corn syrup.
As ot stands right now we are all bending down to like five corporations, but if we were to expand a little bit we would introduce more competition, thus creating a stronger economy.
I'd also love a canidate who focuses on natural healthcare, and preventative medicine. I do not want another canidate who is in big pharmas pocket. In all honesty though my biggest deciding factor is how they feel about mandatory vaccination. I can't support a canidate who wants to take away choice.
And there are stable countries just not as many as have failed. Socialism scares me I'll admit it. I'm still interested to hear others opinions and thoughts. Without judgement.
Not just Algeria. There are several. This is just how I feel. My opinion. It doesn't need to be an argument.
True. I don't agree with the current military system either or expanding it.
Bernie does have good ideas but where is he going to get the money to fund them? From us the working class taxpayers. We will be supporting people who work for a living AND those who don't.
Socialism fails
Republic if Algeria fail
Republic of Egypt fail
Republic of Sudan fail
Republic of cape Verde fail.
This is just a few....
China, Cuba, Korea, Laos, yes I know these are communist countries. Socialism IS a stepping stone to communism. More recently, Greece, still socialist and look how that turned out
I don't support the programs Bernie wants to put in place, but I do think he would do a good job of cleaning out Washington.
Trump is a strong leader and I think he could get done whatever he wants to get done, but my comcern would be what he wants to get done.
All in all as much as it bugs me to say because i cant stand socialism, I feel the Bern. He is much different than we have seen before. I would like to give him a chance.
If it came down to it, I'd vote Hillary. Yeah she's being investigated and made some mistakes, but that's politics. Every politician has done illegal s*** , they just never got investigated. Now that she's actually getting penalties for it s*** hits the fan. If you wanna talk about doing illegal stuff, ask trump who built his empire. Illegal immigrants. Soo really there's not to much point to being mad at Hillary, except the death of those people. But let's be honest, how many people died in bushs war he created over nothing? Let me know when those "weapons of mass destruction" show up.
She is a criminal. She's being investigated by the FBI. She shared classified information and played a large part in the murder of several people. Are you researching the candidates you support or just blindly following?
It's strange because I don't support socialism but Sanders gets behind a lot of issues I do support. I'm so frustrated and scared for where our country us headed.
Socialist countries doing well? Socialism a gate way to communism and though socialism seems to work at first, eventually the country collapses in on itself.
Who will run the businesses if no one is educated?
He did say he would soften his stance on immigration because we need educated people from other countries, so maybe the long term plan is to have educated immigrants come and do the jobs that need education and expertise and our uneducated children can do the entry level, unskilled jobs ?
Reading these replies hurts my soul as a political science major. Forget about your personal feelings and look at the policies. Trump has said more than once that he will cut all funding from the Department of Education and from organizations that work to improve our environment in order to pay off a fraction of our national debt. He says that businesses are the number one priority for this country. He has pissed off other world leaders already. He has horrid manners, and does not give a crap about Muslims or minorities. He has terrible policy period. That coupled with the fact that he is a dreadful person...he is a terrible candidate for president.
I don't see why Americans seem to equate socialism with the end of the world. There are quite a few socialist countries that do extremely well. Bernie has been consistent on his stances for the past few decades, whereas Clinton is like a palm tree; she sways whichever way the wind blows. She says what she needs to in order to gain support. And trump is a racist, sexist man who will obliterate the US
I really wanted Dr. Ben Carson, but since that didn't happen, and i think you're right in that it will be Trump or Clinton, I'll vote Trump. I don't think you should be allowed to run while under investigation from the FBI. That woman is such a compulsive liar, she doesn't know how to distinguish reality from her stories anymore.
I say this as a Canadian. But I hope for Bernie. If only to pull the US into the same standards of being a "first world country" as the rest of us whose countries were part of the commonwealth. That being said, if it becomes Hillary/Trump. I hope Trump wins. If only because If the US is going down, I want it to be in a bang, not a whimper. That, and I really don't want Hillary Clinton being marked in history as the first female president.
Most of them have some good points... except trump he has no good points. I dont think any of them will get done half of the things they are promising because of the Senate and house. Im still weighing the options of who will do the least damage to my family. I support everyones opinions but it amazes me how many people have really less than great arguments for why they vote for trump. The same goes for hillary and Burnie. My own family member told me she is voting for hillary was because she is a woman. I told her voting for hillary solely because she is a woman is like drinking antifreeze because it looks like gatorade.
Well ladies thanks for your replies. It's always nice to have a nice adult conversation after spending the night with lo
I'm not 100% sure but there seems to be a problem/ glitch with the post. That's what I get huh?
OK here's what I can see.
Sanders is a self proclaimed socialist
Hilary is a criminal
Trump...needs no explanation.
I think we need someone like Rand Paul.
Without disrespecting anyone, who do you ladies support?
I think it's going to come down to Trump and Hilary. IMO both are ill equipped to be commander in chief
Even with half the budget for the military, the IS would be VASTLY overfunded still. Because right now, a large portion of military spending goes to unneeded weaponry, the old weaponry, by the way, ends up in police hands, causing a whole slew of other issues. But that's another problem for another discussion. But not buying 10 billion dollars of jets won't hurt your military. ?
