I saw this a few weeks ago I had to share

Stay at home mom (SAHM) depression....

The elephant in the room nobody talks about ☹️

I mean, how DARE you complain after being gifted this opportunity to stay at home and raise YOUR own kids 🤦🏽‍♀️ but it's not that simple. Of course we SAHM's are being grateful to stay home and raise our young BUT that it's literally all we become.

No one talks about the isolation.

No one talks about the loss of identity.

No one talks about the loneliness.

No one talks about losing your sense of self.

No one talks about how you had to give up your career because it's cheaper for you to stay home.

No one talks about how you cry in the shower because your day was overwhelming.

No one understands why you're tired.

No one understands why you're irritable.

No one understands why you need a mental break.

No one understands why you're so aggravated with your kids.

No one understands why after you've been home all day, the house is a wreck still.

No one understands why you just need 5 minutes with no one speaking to or tSng you.

No one understands why you've lost your sex drive.

No one understands why you're completely & utterly exhausted, after all, you just sit at home all day 😒

No one understands the feeling you have when you are told you don't have a "real job".

Most of us were working women at one point. We got to go to a job and interact with other adults outside our home. We contributed financially to our household. (Shoot, most of us want some kind of side hustle or part time job because it would sure help with financial relief) We didn't feel like an endless maid. We got that break away (even though yes, work is a love/ hate relationship) that gives you space from the people you live with (children, spouse... Etc) because yes, EVERY relationship needs time away in it to not go crazy being around each other 24/7. That's not healthy. Contrary to popular belief...

YOU👏NEED👏A👏 BREAK 👏 DAILY 👏

I can't tell you how many women I meet or know that say "oh, you have to much time on your hands" "I sure wish I could stay home, I wouldn't complain" good for you! I can guarantee you will change your mind 6 months in, unless you're wealthy and have money to constantly go do things. I once was you. I wished upon a star I could stay home with my kids because I wanted to spend all the time I could. I didn't realize what all came with being a SAHM.

Oh but YOU chose to have those kids. YOU should've thought about that before having them. If you didn't want to go through all this YOU should've never had kids. & YOU said you want more????

Seriously.... Yup, heard those all before.

Next time you hear or see a SAHM venting her frustrations, listen and make her feel like she's somebody. That her struggles are not invalid. You know just because she don't have a "real job"

This is so true. I unfortunately had another mother who only worked 4 hours a day 5 days a week who flat out told me that I don't deserve a break I don't deserve to go out with friends because I'm a stay-at-home mom. There are many others that have crossed my path that had said things as well. People don't understand that we don't have a 9 to 5 job. Me for example I've got typically a 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. job 7 days a week. You do lose your identity and you lose everyone's respect and acknowledgement. You pretty much become for walls, I need, a laundry lady, a nurse, a chef, a referee, a therapist.... etc. Nobody ever gives a s hit. It's funny how things become backwards. You end up having the hardest job in the world and everybody treats you like you sit around at home all day eating bon bons and watching soap operas. I get told I don't do anything all day so when people compliment the way my home looks or anything else I say that the housekeeping fairies were here, the laundry fairy were here, the cooking fairies were here and so on because according to others I don't do anything. Yet my house is clean, my laundry is done, my daughter is fed happy healthy and clean, all of my errands are run and so on. Nothing's ever perfect but I do the best I can and I think I do a great job.

@karensmommy I know I do. Some people are just so ignorant and stupid and rude. We don't live in your hair anymore but I bet when I get a job and make more money than her she feel like an asshole.

@karensmommy I think my hubby used to think that as well...but when I offered for me to work and him to stay home he finally admitted that he wouldn't be able to lol. So I started to feel more appreciated and that my job is tougher...he may know it deep inside...or sometimes they have no idea of what goes on in the day

@karensmommy I feel you... sometimes my hubby and I compete with who is more tired and we both get annoyed lol. I think both gotta remember that both are tired...and there's not a "who is more tired...." And keeping tabs on how much work/sleep the other one got doesn't help either lol. Being a mom is a tough job!! But it makes us strong role models for our kids. I think we need to remember to take a break every now n then even if it's going to the grocery store alone for 15 mins just to breathe.

@sofie321 my so acts as like my life is so easy I get its not what he does but it's still hard and exhausting and doesn't have the right to say I can't be tired or his job is harder

It was really hard adjusting to being a SAHM when I had my daughter....and yes I thought I'd be sooo happy finally being done with work. I'm glad I can be home now, but at the same time, we need breaks too. I think working is considered in part a break now from all the chaos lol. So I get a lil annoyed when my husband says he's tired....because our shifts never end. But to be fair, he helps me a lot. I try to tell myself that this won't last forever and they will be grown ups one day, and then I'll wonder where the time went. Sometimes it's hard to enjoy time when you're in the trenches, but I'm so fortunate to have kids.

Awwwww! I'm still crying from reading this. Um, I never could/can work. But I feel like this everyday and think something is wrong with me and I'm a bad mom/wife/person. But thank you so much for making me feel normal. Lol! It's so hard for me because I have no family or friends. It's always just my husband and our son and me. My husband works weekends and is home all week. He also has his license and own car. I also can't drive, so no matter what I'm always at home. It's so hard for me because I go to the doctor and tell them and I get put on medication. But then it makes me tired and my husband gets mad at me. So, I'm always trying to fix myself for our son and my husband but it never works. God must really be mad at me because I can't catch a break. But anyways, thank you for posting this. 😊😭😌
